While Thronebreaker might not offer the enormous open world, deep RPG mechanics, and engaging combat of the mainline entries in The Witcher series, it’s still absolutely worth fans’ time.

Rather than putting you in the shoes of a Witcher this time around, players are put in control of an army, made up of a deck of cards.

These are then used in battle against your opponent when you’ll need to exploit weaknesses to succeed, or you’ll need to use them to solve puzzles.

This card-based gameplay is then blended rather perfectly into a story-driven experience, following the story of Queen Meve of Lyria, whose country has been invaded by the Nilfgaardian Empire. Put short, this is a great side entry in The Witcher series.

What’s more, the achievements list is nice and easy going, too. There are 40 achievements in total, making this the longest Xbox One achievement list for December 2018, but many of these you’ll naturally earn as you’re playing through the game.

That being said, the likes of ‘Burn After Reading’ and ‘Tax Collector’ may prove a little more difficult, as these are collectible-based achievements. You’ll need to find and read all spymaster letters, and gold chests respectively in order to unlock these.

Keep your wits about you, however, and you should be able to spot most of these as you play through the card-based goodness.

From simply playing through the story, we managed to amass 78% of Thronebreaker’s Xbox One achievements, so a bit of elbow grease will make those final few fairly easy going.
