Scars and Tattoos – XCOM 2

Recommended Videos

XCOM 2 features many different soldiers that will come and go (by dying on the battlefield) in your Commander’s life. You can customize them to look however you please by changing their hair, skin, nationality, armor, and much more. It’s quite extensive for not necessarily being the game’s number one selling point. It’s a touch that allows you to gain a sort of attachment to them.

There are several options for your soldiers within the Props section of the Customization menu. Tattoos and Scars, however, are locked at the beginning of the game. If it’s grayed out for you, this is because your soldier isn’t of the appropriate ranking to have them. You need to level them up with more battlefield experience until they are of the Sergeant ranking in order to unlock tattoos and scars. They are pretty awesome looking, honestly. Leveling up more and more also unlocks more helmets, hats, armor, and options, too. So you’re definitely going to want to keep soldiers alive long enough to gain experience. Here is how the rankings go:

  1. Rookie
  2. Squaddie
  3. Corporal
  4. Sergeant
  5. Lieutenant
  6. Captain
  7. Major
  8. Colonel

Get out there and gain that experience in XCOM 2! Kill enemies and stay alive and you’ll be able to make a scarred, tattoed up butt kicker in no time.
