The Witness is a special kind of game and one that we seldom see in today’s landscape of titles. While many games offer us an action-packed 10-hour campaign, The Witness provided something else: a world teeming with puzzles and absolutely no guidance on how to solve them other than what you’d learned from completing previous puzzles. What you’re left with is a game that will have you pulling your hair out, scrawling complex notes and mathematical equations, and staring at your screen for hours, all to finally say you cracked it.

Even at times when you think that you’ll never get the solution, you’ll continue to analyze each and every pixel until it finally pops. And when it does, all of those hours, notes, and tears feel so worth it. You continue to explore the island until you find the next puzzle… in the 200 or so left you have to solve. It’s one hell of a long voyage to reach the end, but if you’re the kind of person who loves a good puzzle, you’ll never be able to step away from The Witness for too long.
