How to Beat Valravn in Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrice
Valravn will be either you first or second boss encounter in Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice depending on whether you decided to go left or right at the beginning – with left leading you to this boss and right taking you to Surtr God of Fire. While Surtr is definitely the easier of the two fights, Valravn isn’t overly difficult as long as you know what to do.
A few things you need to know are that this boss loves to use projectiles, so make sure to stay at a moderate distance in order to keep this tall warrior melee-focused. Also, Valravn’s attacks can indeed be parried, so take advantage of that fact to keep it off balance, allowing you to do increased damage. The last thing to note is that this particular boss will summon minions during the fight. They aren’t difficult to take out but can get annoying if you don’t deal with them quickly, so keep that in mind. Oh, and beware of the jump attacks, they’re easy to dodge but can be devastating if they connect.
When facing Valravn in Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, just be sure to keep just out of arm’s reach and be ready to parry at all times (tap R1 before the boss’ attack connects). When Valravn is done with a combo get in a few strikes then continue to play defensively. Whenever you see the boss jump, simply sidestep then get in some heavy attacks from behind to deal a decent amount of damage. Whenever minions do appear, take care of them first rather than continue to focus on the boss, this will make your life much easier. Just rinse and repeat.
At the end of the fight, Valravn will turn into a shadow, making itself invulnerable. Use your focus (R2) to make the boss physical and vulnerable, allowing you to finish the fight.
