Thumper is a game that’s quite unlike anything else out there at the moment. Yes, it’s a rhythm-action game set in a creepy, neon world, with PSVR functionality, but that’s not what makes it so unique. Instead, it’s the fact that Thumper doesn’t hold your hand through it’s fast-paced, sharp-turning world. You’ve just got to learn the mechanics, master hand-eye coordination, and hope for the best.

With every successful move that you pull off, the booming soundtrack to each level is enhanced, as sparks and groovy neon colors flash around your peripheral vision. In VR, Thumper is an incredibly immersive experience that far outshines playing it on a TV. While the whole thing can be pretty exhausting, and incredibly tricky, it’s one of the most compelling rhythm-action games available for PS4, and one of the best launch games that released alongside PSVR in October.
