5 Ways Fortnite Chapter 2 Revitalizes Its Battle Royale Mode

Bots & Improved Matchmaking

In the five to 10 games I’ve played of Fortnite Chapter 2 so far, one of the most notable changes is the improved matchmaking system and the introduction of bots into games.

While they both work together to make for a better gameplay experience for all players, let’s break them down both separately first.

Let’s start off with the introduction of bots. This was something Epic Games actually noted prior to Fortnite Chapter 2 kicking off.

Essentially, bots have been added into games of players with a lower skill level to help increase the player counts in games, and also essentially provide a more balanced experience for newcomers.

It essentially means you’re not going to come across someone who can ‘crank dem ’90s’ in seconds if you’re still not really all that clued up on the building element yourself.

In conjunction with the arrival of bots, Epic Games also introduced improved matchmaking toward the end of Season 10. This was applied across all core game modes, and ensured players of similar skill were thrown into the same game.

As you improve, so do your opponents, and when it comes to the aforementioned bots, you should see fewer of them in your games.

This is actually one pretty clever move on Epic Games’ part. It ensures seasoned Fortnite players continue to take on tough opponents and have a more competitive landscape to play in regardless of the game mode they choose, while also ensuring newcomers aren’t put off the game and get to grips in a more forgiving learning environment.

Seriously, if you haven’t played Fortnite in a while, try hopping back in. You’re sure to notice the difference pretty quickly, but it’s certainly for the better.
