Shadow of the Colossus remaster, surprise

Japanese studios made a splash at this year’s E3, but the surprise that towered above the rest was a remaster for Shadow of the Colossus.

Remastering games is becoming more popular as of late and it’s a trend that hopefully continues. Shadow of the Colossus was a game that still played well despite its 2005 release date but based on the trailer, it has definitely benefited from the face lift.

For those who missed out on this title, the gameplay is straightforward but highly effective. You rid the land of the giant beasts, one boss battle after another, as they continually get taller and more difficult to handle. A lot of the fun comes from figuring out how to take down each beast while the story gets more dramatic and emotional. Everything we loved about the original looks to still be in tact. Let’s hope we can say the same about that wonderful music.
