2) Into the Breach (Switch) – Metacritic Score: 92

into the breach

Towards the end of August 2018, Nintendo revealed a surprise Nindies direct, and the shadow drop of Into the Breach was the classic ‘there’s one more thing’ moment at the end. From the studio behind the excellent FTL: Faster Than Light, Into the Breach is turn based strategy game that sees you fight a army of huge monsters. It’s tactical, complex, and interesting, but most importantly, you’re in command of giant mechs. It can be tough, but the short rounds and basic design makes it feel at home on the Switch. The satisfying feeling of overcoming the tougher fights is unrivaled, but even when you get stuck, it’s worth sticking with because it’s always clear how you can improve and have a better chance next time.
