God of War (April 20)
Best PS4 Games in April 2018
God of War is a series that needs little introduction, and Kratos finally makes his triumphant return on the PS4 this month. There are big changes coming to this series, however, the first of which is a brand new setting steeped in Norse mythology.
God of War takes place years after any of the previous entries. Kratos has grown old and moved away from the lands of Greece, building a new family in the process. Kratos’ young son Atreus is your constant sidekick in the game, and despite being family it seems like the two don’t actually know that much about each other. The new God of War gives off some Last of Us vibes with the relationship between Kratos and Atreus, and the bow-wielding kid will also assist you in the game’s overhauled combat. This time around you’ll be using a deadly new axe Kratos has access to, cleaving through enemies and throwing it from range. Nearly every part of the axe can be upgraded or swapped out through the course of the game and will help add customization and variety to your combat style.
We’ll have to wait for the full game to see just where this new location takes Kratos, but everything about God of War points toward another PlayStation classic in the making.
