Let’s Rank Which E3 Conferences We Should Be the Most Hyped For

8: Ubisoft

Ubisoft had a really rough time last year, and their E3 conference is Ubisoft’s opportunity to try and start picking up the pieces. However, we already probably know about a lot of what Ubisoft is going to be showing off, making this conference less exciting than the rest.

We’re obviously going to see more Assassin’s Creed, the most unnecessary annual franchise of all time, and Tom Clancy’s The Division. There could be a new IP reveal that will blow us away like the Watch Dogs trailer did back at E3 2012, but don’t let yourself get easily fooled again. Watch Dogs turned out just fine of course, but it didn’t quite live up to the hype of its amazing reveal. While we’re on the topic of Watch Dogs, don’t be surprised if we find out about a sequel during Ubisoft’s press conference.

7: PC Gaming Show

A brand new E3 conference all about PC games! In theory, it sounds cool and it probably will be. However, it’s unlikely to be the location for major bombshell surprises. Hosted by AMD and PC gamer, the press conference will probably be more of a celebration of PC games than anything else.

We’ll probably get tidbits of new info on the futures of big name PC names such as Starcraft, but don’t expect anything that knock your socks off. That being said, if you’re into exclusive PC franchises, this conference will be one to keep an eye on. However, it’s three hours long, so bring coffee and snacks.

6: Bethesda

Bethesda would have ranked higher on this list if they didn’t spill the beans on Fallout 4 already. Even though it was the worst kept secret in gaming this year, it would have arguably been more exciting to have the reveal take place at E3. Still, that doesn’t mean Bethesda’s presser won’t be worth watching.

Finding out when Fallout 4 will be coming out, alongside some more gameplay, sure would be great. Also, we’ll probably get a lot more information on Doom and some plans for the future of The Elder Scrolls Online. Although unlikely, if Bethesda decides to surprise everyone with a new Elder Scrolls game, that would catapult the Bethseda conference towards the top of this list.

5: Microsoft

Microsoft’s press conference would be a lot more exciting if we didn’t already know about so many of the games that will likely be making an appearance. Some kind of Gear of War remake, or relaunch, or combination thereof is out of the bag at this point. We all know about Halo 5. Crackdown is already announced, and had damn well better be showing up.

Scalebound, the new game from Platinum Games, remains mysterious. Seeing some more of that would certainly be welcomed and exciting. Like Sony, there might be some unannounced games that could potentially steal the show, but if there are, they are a lot more well-hidden than Gears of War, that’s for sure.

4: Sony

Could this be it? Could this be the year that we finally get a date on the vaporware of our generation, The Last Guardian?  Probably not, but the possibility alone is worth tuning in for.

And while you might come for potential The Last Guardian news, you’ll probably end up wanting to stay for more information on Uncharted 4, No Mans Sky, and the new Ratchet and Clank game. Also, we haven’t heard a whole lot from Sony regarding brand new exclusive games. So we’re giving Sony the benefit of the doubt that they have held them close to their chest and will probably be unleashing them onto the world at E3. Finally, thanks to Sony’s relationship to Bungie, this will probably be where the new Destiny expansion, The Taken King, is revealed.

3: Square Enix

OK let’s get the moderately exciting stuff out of the way first. Yes, we’re probably going to get more information on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, a new Hitman game, and Tomb Raider at this year’s Square Enix’s E3 press conference. That’s all well and good, but the real reason to tune into the Square Enix E3 presser is its potential on the Japanese side of things, even with Final Fantasy XV not showing.

First and foremost is that we may finally get a firm date and more details on Kingdom Hearts 3, everyone’s favorite Disney and Square Enix mashup. But, that can’t be all, right? After all, Square Enix doesn’t hold E3 press conferences every year. Would they really hold one just to talk about Deus Ex, Hitman, and Kingdom Hearts 3, games that aren’t really going to surprise us with their appearance? Maybe, but this writer would bet on something more elusive… Could this be the year that we finally get a PS1 Final Fantasy remake? We’ll find out soon enough.

2: Nintendo

Nintendo switched to an all steak, no sizzle, digital press conference format last year at E3 and it was fantastic. Quick and to the point, expect lots of new games to be announced during Nintendo’s E3 conference (just don’t hold your breath for any meaningful Zelda details).

We’re going to see more of Yoshi’s Wooly World and Mario Maker, that’s for sure. Also, there’s something in the air that’s making me believe that we’re in for a brand new mainline Mario adventure for the Wii U. What is most intriguing though is that Retro Studios, the people behind the Metroid Trilogy, seem to be ready to announce something this year at E3. While their Donkey Kong games are great, if we get ANOTHER one before a new Metroid game, it’s time to flip the proverbial table. Finally, don’t forget about all the lovely new 3DS games that will likely be announced. Nintendo could use a strong E3 showing this year, and they certainly have the ammunition to have one.

1: EA

EA is not normally what you would consider a powerhouse when it comes to super exciting E3 press conferences. However, the stars have the potential to align this year, and if EA plays its cards right, they can steal all the E3 buzz this year.

First things first, we HAVE to be due for the long awaited Mass Effect reveal right? While its existence is confirmed, we still have pretty much no details about the game itself. Its location, who it stars, its timeline, or even a damn name. The possibility of it making an appearance this year at E3 is tantalizing, and would be an absolute show stopper if it happens.

It’s not just all about Mass Effect though, there’s also Mirror’s Edge Catalyst and Star Wars Battlefront, two sequels that have been requested by fans for years, that should get their moment in the sun at EA’s E3 presser.

Those three alone are enough to make EA’s E3 show a must watch, and that doesn’t even include any potential new titles we don’t know about such as a new Battlefield game. EA’s conference is going to be primetime this year and that’s why it’s topping our list of the most potentially exciting pressers this year at E3.
