Marvel’s largest solo film has finally received its much-deserved online debut through Netflix. The worldwide phenomenon Black Panther has made its way to the streaming service for the time being, joining its Marvel brethren at least until the launch of Dinsey’s streaming service.
Upon its theatrical release in late Feb., Black Panther caused audiences to pack theaters in droves, making it the second largest opening weekend for a Marvel film, coming in right behind Avengers: Infinity War, which released a few short months later. It’s also unsurprising that the film was also able to launch itself into the slot of third highest gross film in North America coming just short of James Cameron’s Avatar and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Considering Black Panther’s iconic appearances in the comics side of Marvel, his film’s major success comes at very little surprise. The story of king’s constant battles with evil to protect the borders of the fictional African country Wakanda, Black Panther signaled a revolutionary new direction for Marvel comics. A sequel film has already been inevitably confirmed by Marvel, and of course Black Panther will appear in future Marvel projects.
Along with the rest of the multiple Marvel programs on Netflix, Black Panther may be soon disappearing thanks to Disney’s upcoming streaming service that’s set to launch sometime in 2019.
For now, though, you can catch Black Panther on Netflix.
