How to Emote in Red Dead Online
It’s a wild, wild west out there in Red Dead Online. While you’ll be able to go about completing missions with friends on your own accord, chances are you’ll also come across some strangers going about doing their own thing, too. While you’re always free to go ahead and shoot them straight in the face, it doesn’t always have to be a violent affair. Here’s how to emote in Red Dead Online.
For those unaware, emotes allow you to communicate on a basic level with other players without having to use your mic. For example, one may be a simple wave, while another might have your character laughing or crying.
They can be handy at times, but more often than not they’re just used for a bit of light-hearted fun with other players you come across on your adventure.
To emote in Red Dead Online, you’ll need to hold L2 on PS4 or LT on Xbox One and then press R1 or RB. This will now bring up your currently equipped emotes, with the button they’re assigned to appearing next to their name. It’s simply a case of pressing the button that corresponds to the emote you want to use.
For example, pressing Square on PS4 or X on Xbox One will have you wave, or whichever one you have equipped to that button.
How to Change Assigned Emotes in Red Dead Online
In order to change your assigned emotes, you’ll need to press left on the d-pad initially. From here, it’s a case of selecting ‘Online Options’, then Emotes, and then simply reassigning from the menu you’ll find here. Once you’re all set, back out into the wild west of Red Dead Online once again and you’ll be all set to wow your friends and strangers with your new assortment of animated emotions.
That’s pretty much all you need to know to emote in Red Dead Online. For more tips, tricks, guides, and general information on your adventures in the wild west, be it in single-player or Red Dead Online, be sure to check out our Red Dead Redemption 2 guide wiki.
