Little Hope: How To Do QTEs & Heartbeats Correctly

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The second entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology, Little Hope, is here, and players can experience a new story filled with witches, possible time travel… or something, and other spooky stuff. It’s all a bit confusing, but you’ll see for yourself in time. If you’re here, you’re probably having a little trouble doing the QTEs correctly in Little Hope as they work a little differently than some other similar games. Here are some helpful tips.

How to Do QTEs Correctly in Little Hope

QTEs in Little Hope work slightly differently than other similar games that utilize the mechanic. Normally when a prompt comes up, your instinct is to push something ASAP, knowing that you only have a few seconds to hit the right button.

In a way, Little Hope is trying to make things a little easier by giving you a warning of sorts. A QTE icon comes up, letting you know to get ready, but itchy trigger fingers may just instinctively hit a button. If you do that before a button comes up, you’ll fail automatically and potentially get someone killed. We don’t want that to happen now, do we?

What you need to do to hit QTEs correctly in Little Hope is just wait for a second or two, don’t press anything, and then the game will tell you what button to press; you’ll have a second or two again to hit the correct button after that happens.

Occasionally in Little Hope you’ll need to tap the same button repeatedly, this will be indicated by a bar that will fill up around the button prompt when it shows up.

Heartbeat QTE in Little Hope

The only time QTEs are any different in Little Hope is when you’re dealing with the heartbeat sensor. It’s still a QTE at the end of the day, but it’s set up differently and usually appears when you’re hiding from someone… or something.

When this appears, allow the heartbeat sensor to just go without pressing anything until you reach the highlighted areas. Lower pressure situations will have you pressing X on PS4 or A on Xbox One. When the heart rate becomes more elevated, you’ll be pressing Triangle on PS4 or Y on Xbox One instead.

Once again, don’t jump the gun and press any buttons when you’re not supposed, to otherwise you’ll lose. The trick for this is to press buttons in rhythm with the heartbeat, and you should be OK.

That’s all you need to know about how to QTE correctly in Little Hope. Hopefully this helped and you’re able to survive the night.
