Best Skills and Abilities to Get in Assassin’s Creed Origins

Assassin’s Creed Origins has the most expansive skill tree the series has seen to date due to how it fully embraces the RPG elements that have permeated the franchise over the years. There are three trees, all of which link together and provide a long list of skills and abilities for players to choose from as they shape Bayek into the warrior they want him to be.

One tree that will get a lot of attention from players is the Warrior tree, which covers melee based skills or abilities. These will prove important later in the game when you deal with heavily armored foes in tight spaces. Below are the best skills and abilities in the tree that you should work towards. The other skills/ abilities not mentioned here are good, but none have as much an effect as the following:

Regeneration – One of the first skills/ abilities you can get, and definitely necessary. Allows you to regen life while in combat (can restore any segment that isn’t fully depleted)

Charge Heavy Attack – Hold R2/RT to charge your heavy, letting you shield break even tower shields and knock down enemies.

Over Power Ultra – Doubles the damage of Overpower, very useful in Arena.

Shield Charge – You can charge and bash enemies with your shield. Breaks most guards, stuns enemies, and can knock them down.

Attack and Push – Holding R1/RB after a light attack does a quick, powerful combo. Great when combined with a weapon that has a status effect like Bleeding.

Overpower Chain Throw – If you get a kill with an Overpower attack, you can tap R1/ RB to throw that victim’s weapon at a nearby enemy.

Hunter

The Hunter tree in Assassin’s Creed Origins focuses mainly on ranged attacks, stealth, and just being a badass assassin. There are some useful XP skills and abilities, as well as ways to get more bang for your murdering buck.

Headshot XP – Bonus experience for shooting a bad guy in the face? Why thank you.

Assassination XP – Same for assassinating? Don’t mind if I do.

Stealth Kill Streak – You gain a bonus after killing multiple enemies in a row stealthily. The more kills, the higher the bonus.

Chain Assassination – You can press Triangle/Y during an assassination to throw a blade and instantly kill a second, nearby target.

Enhanced Predator Bow – Holding R2 after firing a Predator Bow lets you actually control the arrow in the air.

Enhanced Hunter Bow – Further charge your shot to break defenses.

Elite Ranger – Enables slow motion while aiming bow in mid-air.

Seer

Best Skills and Abilities to Get in Assassin’s Creed Origins

The Seer tree in Assassin’s Creed Origins is sort of a mixed bag but focuses mainly on tools (darts, bombs, etc.). It also has skills and abilities to interact with the world, such as passing time, taming animals, and perks for selling items.

Dawn & Dusk – Hold down Touchpad/View to move time forward. Great when you want to approach a base at night to catch your enemies sleeping.

Salesman – If you like upgrading a specific weapon or just buying everything, you want this perk. It gets you +25% gold on all animal goods and trinkets you sell, and you’ll collect a lot of them.

Sleep Darts – Doesn’t put enemies to sleep forever, but long enough for you to assassinate them or get by unseen. Also needed to tame animals.

Smoke Screen + Damage – These two perks make tricky fights a lot more manageable. Smoke Screen breaks line of sight, letting you get away or get in some easy sneak attacks. The damage upgrade knocks down enemies and deals damage to them.

Fire Bomb – Pretty self-explanatory.

Animal Taming – After putting an animal to sleep, walk up to it and press Triangle/Y to make it your friend.

Flesh Decay – Turn corpses into useful death traps.

Tool Kill XP – Gain extra XP when killing an enemy with Flesh Decay, Poison Darts, Fire Bombs, or Fire.

Poison Darts – Deal damage over time, and it can spread to nearby enemies. They’ll be stunned, get sick randomly, making them unable to fight and easy to kill.

Those are our top picks for skills/ abilities you should get in Assassin’s Creed Origins. For more on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
