Batman The Telltale Series, episode one, review

August saw the release of the first episode of Telltale’s Batman series on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Giving players the opportunity to play as both the caped crusader and playboy millionaire Bruce Wayne, episode one laid the foundations for what looks set to be an exciting series as it tells a brand-new story in the Batman universe.

As we’ve come to expect from a Telltale Games title, Batman has some easy achievements to pick up. In fact, all you have to do is simply complete the first episode to get all of its achievements. Episode one had a total of 200 Gamerscore up for grabs over six achievements. With the episode being split into six separate chapters, players are awarded 20 Gamerscore for completing each of the first five chapters, and then 100 Gamerscore for completing episode six.

Grow Up

grow up

Grow Up is the sequel to the incredibly charming Grow Home of 2015. In this sequel, while exploring the galaxy in MOM, BUD’s parental spaceship, he crashes into a planet and the parts of his spaceship are scattered all over an alien planet. Luckily for BUD, the place is covered in tons of flora and fauna for him to get climbing and exploring.

Grow Up is relatively easy to complete, making completing its achievement list much easier. The only achievement that is likely to cause a little bit of trouble is the Star Planter! achievement that requires you to flower all Starplants. A couple of the crystals for the POWER UP! achievement can also be tricky to find, but with the use of a location guide for both the Starplants and crystals you shouldn’t have too much of an issue. All in all, you can mop up an extra 1000 Gamerscore over 17 achievements in roughly 12-15 hours.

Valley

Valley released on Xbox One, PS4, and Steam toward the end of the month to a mixed reception. In the game, players explore a vast and beautiful valley (surprise surprise) using the power of the L.E.A.F suit. This allows you to traverse the environment much faster but more importantly gives you the ability to manipulate the life and death of all living things. With the help of the L.E.A.F suit, players must uncover the secrets of the mysterious valley.

The game has a total of 1000 Gamerscore across 30 achievements, though many of them are unlocked for simply completing certain parts or areas of the game. Though there are some secret achievements that may take a little while longer to unlock such as spending 20 minutes of accumulated time in mid-air, and finding all pages, a lot of the others not directly related to the story will be unlockable naturally as you progress through the game. 11-15 hours should see you with a complete set of achievements and your Gamerscore 1000G’s healthier.

The Turing Test

If you’ve been craving a bit of puzzling action for quite a while then The Turing Test aims to scratch that itch. Releasing right at the end of the month on Xbox One and PC, the game released to a largely positive reception as it told the story of Ava Turing, an engineer for the International Space Agency. Turing has been sent to find out what’s behind the disappearance of a ground crew stationed on Jupiter’s moon, Europa.

The game has 15 achievements with a total of 1000 Gamerscore. Luckily for us, 550 of that will come just from completing the game. The other seven achievements to round off the list revolve around the optional puzzles in each chapter. There are a few different guides, including this one here, that will guide you through each of these, too. If you’re a puzzle fan, this is a quick and easy way to get yourself an extra 1000G.

Hitman Episode 4: Bangkok

hitman episode 4, achievements

August saw the release of the next chapter of Agent 47’s latest adventure on Xbox One, PC, and PS4. Episode four saw everyone’s favorite hitman traveling to Bangkok, where he’d have to take down his targets in the fancy Club 27. Players had to take down rising rock star Jordan Cross, and Cross’ family lawyer, Ken Morgan.

There are seven achievements up for grabs with a total of 150 Gamerscore between them. You’ll get a large amount of this for simply completing all of the different opportunities and events in episode four and reaching Bangkok Mastery level 20. However, there are a few fun little achievements that require you to go about your assassinations a bit differently.

For example, one requires you to eliminate both of your targets in a fall accident by dropping a coconut on their heads, while another requires you to use an Agency Pickup to smuggle an item into Bangkok. Oh, and you also have to destroy 18 golden elephants for the ‘Elephants Never Forget’ achievement worth 15 Gamerscore, and that sure sounds like fun!
