Complete the Entire Story
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild isn’t any ordinary game. By the time you reach its final boss, you may not have played through every part of the game’s story. Considering the story contains a number of significant boss battles and has all of the interesting plot points to drive Link through his adventure, you’ll definitely want to make sure you catch it all on your second playthrough if you didn’t the first time.
It’s worth noting, though, that this isn’t going to apply to every player out there. If you followed every step of the story, don’t worry, because there are ample other reasons to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild all over again.
Play Around with the Freedom
While the freedom may have led some players astray from completing the full story, it’s also one of Breath of the Wild’s most satisfying features. Being able to go and do what you want in whatever order you’d like means that you can walk straight over to Ganon, three hearts and crappy weapons in tow, and take him on as soon as you finish the tutorial. It’ll likely end in a very swift, untimely death for Link, but if you like a bit of a challenge, Breath of the Wild dangles the option in front of you.
Even if you don’t want to get pummeled immediately, Breath of the Wild’s freedom means you can take on the main dungeons in whatever order you’d like, spend hours just exploring the world, or polishing off some Shrines for those all-important Health or Stamina boosts.
If you went in one direction in your first playthrough, try exploring somewhere completely different the next time around. You’ll be surprised how different your adventure will turn out if you do.
Experiment with a Different Build / Playstyle
While The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild gives you the freedom to go and do whatever you want, in whatever order you want, it also continues to provide this freedom in how you go about doing it all. It doesn’t tell you that those important Spirit Orbs you’ve been collecting from Shrines have to be used to get more Heart Containers or Stamina Vessels, you make that decision based on how you play. It doesn’t force you into using a specific weapon type, or approach to combat, you can run in with a broadsword, or sit back with your bow.
Each player will always have a playstyle and build they’ll just automatically lean towards, and while it’s often the best method to see you succeed, it’s always fun to make use of this freedom and try out something new.
If you’re looking for a tougher challenge, pour all of your Spirit Orbs into Stamina upgrades, and keep your health at a lowly three hearts. If you found melee weapons were your go-to first time around, focus on using Link’s bow for a more stealthy approach. Make full use of the options and abilities at your disposal and Breath of the Wild will feel just as fresh and satisfying as it did the first time around.
DLC
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild isn’t over just yet. While we’ve still got quite a way to go, players will get some fresh new content if they pick up the Season Pass.
The first drop of content will add a Cave of Trials, an unknown new feature for the in-game map, and a challenging Hard difficulty mode. It’s due to release sometime this summer, though no specific date or details regarding the content have been confirmed as of yet.
Further down the line this holiday season, Breath of the Wild’s other content drop in the Season Pass will arrive, adding in a new dungeon and some story content to boot.
Yes, you’ll have to pay a bit of extra cash for the Season Pass, but with a higher difficulty level, more challenges (by the sounds of Cave of Trials and a new dungeon), and some new story content, too, it’s certainly providing plenty of reasons to play Breath of the Wild all over again.
If you’ve enjoyed your time in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild so far, and the idea of fresh content piques your interest, the Season Pass should be at the top of your wishlist.
