This week marks the release of the final piece of confirmed DLC for Fallout 4. Arriving in the form of Nuka-World, the happiest place in the whole of the wasteland, players will have plenty of reason to jump back into the wasteland to explore this new area and all that it contains. Having been almost 10 months since Fallout 4 released to critical acclaim on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, Nuka-World is the other large piece of DLC content, similar to that which players received in the Far Harbor expansion back in May.

With this being the final piece of DLC for Fallout 4, we thought it’d be best to give you a run through of everything you can expect from this upcoming content. So without further ado, let’s check out what’s new.

New Area

Just as Far Harbor did, Nuka-World will offer players a brand-new part of the wasteland to go and explore. Though we haven’t been given a definite scale or size confirmation for the theme park, Nuka-World’s file size is larger than that of Far Harbor, suggesting that players could be in for quite a lengthy adventure. The map above shows off the six large areas for players to explore in the park. There’s the Galactic Zone, a key location for science lovers, a Kiddie Kingdom, Nuka-Town USA, World of Refreshment, Dry Rock Gulch, and a Safari Adventure Zone.

Though no details have been confirmed as of yet as to what may be waiting in each of these locations, there’s a good possibility that different Raider factions may have taken control of these. Oh, and there’s probably some messed up, radiated amusement park enemies to take on, too.

Story

Bethesda has been rather quiet on what kind of story players are going to get themselves embroiled in as they wander Nuka-World. While the developer revealed a brief summary for Far Harbor, all we know about Nuka-World is the location and that we’re going to get a little bit more friendly with Raiders. Yep, you read that right. According to the DLC’s summary, players will be able to lead lethal gangs of Raiders to conquer settlements and bend the Commonwealth to your will.

Unfortunately, Todd Howard and the rest of the team have remained tight-lipped on how, or if this may feed into the larger story of the theme park and the DLC itself. At least it’s not too much longer to wait until we can find out for ourselves.

New Enemies… and Allies?

Fallout Nuka-World

Nuka-World isn’t the place of enjoyment and fun that it used to be. Now, the theme park is overrun with Raiders and all other manner of deadly creatures and wanderers of the Commonwealth. While we already know that Nuka-World is now a lawless city full of Raiders, what does come as a bit of a twist is the fact that you’ll be leading factions of said Raiders to conquer settlements and essentially become the master of the Commonwealth.

Of course, if you’ve got an army of Raiders at your disposal, you’re gonna come across some pretty tough opponents. In the gameplay trailer for Nuka-World, it was revealed that players would finally see the return of Aliens after they had a very brief cameo in the main game. While the usual suspects of Ghouls and Mirelurks are also in attendance at the park, there’s a bunch of new insect-type monsters that look just as annoying as the Blood Mosquitos that are ready to welcome you to Nuka-World. There’s also a pretty terrifying giant worm thing in the trailer, too. Looks like it’s gonna be an explosive trip to the park!

New Items

Fallout Nuka-World

Despite the additional firepower of a gang of Raiders at your side, the real fun comes in using new and bizarre weapons to deal out the damage yourself. Nuka-World’s gameplay trailer showcased a bunch of neat new weapons, including an electrified paddle ball, the paintball gun-looking weapon in the image above, and a whole host of other melee weapons, too. There’s also a Nuka-Cola-themed suit of power armor to get you into that Nuka spirit of the park, too.

Nuka-World also offers a host of additional items to spruce up your settlements in Fallout 4 as many of the other DLCs have done, too. From the gameplay trailer, we got a quick glimpse of a Nuka Cola mascot statue, a giant Nuka Cola bottle, and some other Nuka Cola-related items. While settlement building wasn’t a hit with every Fallout 4 player, these additions are certainly going to be welcomed with open arms from the creative community.

Achievements/ Trophies

Of course, just as all of the other DLCs have done so, Nuka-World will provide players with a fresh list of trophies and achievements to be earned as they explore the park. The DLC adds an additional 10 trophies to the list, tasking players with simply completing missions, to creating different flavors of Nuka-Cola.

Four of the trophies are for completing quests, while the other six are for completing random activities within the park.

It’s Not Just About Shootin’

Fallout 4 Nuka-World

Nuka-World is going to have plenty of enemies to shoot, there’s no doubt about that. However, with this being a theme park, you can bet your bottom dollar that Bethesda has put this setting to good use and offered plenty of distractions to your usual wasteland proceedings.

Not only will you be shooting Ghouls in the face, and negotiating with Raiders, but you’ll also be earning tickets on the machines, creating different Nuka Cola flavors, and riding the rollercoasters. It’s all part of the fun!

When is it out and how much is it?

Fallout 4, DLC, Nuka World

Nuka-World is due to go live on PS4, PC, and Xbox One today, depending on where you are in the world. If you’re in North America, the DLC will unlock at 8PM EST or 5PM PST. For Europeans, it’s 1AM BST or 2AM CEST. And for Australians and New Zealanders, Nuka-World will open its doors at 10AM AEST.

Anyone who already has the Season Pass for Fallout 4 will unlock this content free of charge. However, if you decided against picking up the Season Pass, Nuka-World will set you back $19.99.
