6 The Sims 4 Expansion Packs We Want to See Next

Shut up and take my Simoleons.

University Life

The University Life expansion pack brought college life and tons of millennial-focused features to The Sims 3 back in 2013 and we’re crossing our fingers that The Sims 4 will get the college treatment next. University Life introduced new features like the PlantSim life state, Sims University as a new world when you enroll, a smartphone, and a college sub-neighborhood all while giving your Sims the chance to start a career as a video game developer, art appraiser, or sports agent.

It would be nice to see all this content make a return in The Sims 4 while also building on the Sims University world by adding more than one college choice. At the very least, it would be interesting to see two university options — one that is a party-heavy state college and perhaps a second that creates the stuffy feel of an Ivy League. Another new feature that would be great for a new University Life pack would be adding the ability to see Teen Sims actually attend graduation when they finish high school.

Seasons

It’s easy to underestimate just how much impact something like seasons can have on the lifestyle of your Sims. If you haven’t played any of the Seasons expansion packs from previous games, you’re really missing out and you might even have a skewed perception of what this kind of expansion would look like. This is more than just a change in temperature and adding time for the leaves to turn colors every now and then. The Seasons expansion in Sims 3 introduced unique seasonal festivals along with five different types of weather. Your Sims could now experience lightning storms, snow, hail, and even foggy mornings in addition to their usual bright and sunny days.

The varying festivals and holidays, however, were arguably the best features of this expansion in the past. Seasons in Sims 3 featured four holidays — Leisure Day, Snowflake Day, Spooky Day, and Love Day. Along with these holidays, different festival lots would appear depending on the time of the year and certain lots would even transform over time depending on the current season. It would be great to see The Sims 4 bring Seasons back around with even more holidays and festivals to celebrate.

Amusement Park

In the past, a full-fledged amusement park expansion pack has been reserved for Sim City but theme parks would make a great addition to The Sims 4. The expansion could bring three new worlds to the game that offer three different types of amusement park experiences. Each amusement park could provide a different type of theme that makes each feel distinctly different from the next. While one might be a massive Disneyland-inspired amusement park, the next might be an outdoor-focused adventure or a dedicated water park. This could also open the door for new career options for Sims that include owning their own amusement park or engineering new rides and attractions for the parks.

Superstar

It’s time for an old goodie to make a grand return. Back in 2003, the Superstar expansion pack made its way to The Sims and brought tons of celebrity cameos along with it. Famous faces like Jon Bon Jovi, Jennifer Lopez, Avril Lavigne, and Andy Warhol made appearances as non-playable characters and a new age version of this Superstar expansion is long overdue. A new version of the Superstar expansion could place far more focus on the age of digital celebrities by featuring some of today’s biggest YouTube stars in addition to more traditional Hollywood personalities. A new career path could challenge Sims with the task of becoming a celebrity of their own right whether that’s by becoming a pop star, an A-list actor/actress, or an Internet sensation.

Island Paradise

Island Paradise was one of the last expansions to come to The Sims 3 but we can only hope that a similar expansion will come to The Sims 4 sooner rather than later. Everything you have ever wanted in a tropical vacation or beach life comes to The Sims via the Island Paradise expansion — houseboats, resorts, islands, windsurfing, water skiing, and more. One of the most popular additions this expansion brought to The Sims 3 was the mermaid life stage, which was a particularly fun touch when diving in the ocean. With the Cats and Dogs expansion also available for The Sims 4, it would be a nice bonus to see some great beachy content for our Sims new four-legged friends. Doggy swimsuits or even giving pets the ability to interact with other animals on the beach, like crabs or seagulls, would be fun additions to bring to a new and improved version of the Island Paradise expansion.

Country Life

City Living has been a popular expansion for The Sims series but not every Sim wants to keep up with those city folk. While City Living brought the best of urban living to The Sims, Country Life could remind Sims of a simpler way of life. There has always been a ton of content, both official and user-created, that dabbled with the concept of country life. From rural attire to home décor and even in-game content to create a faux farm, there is clearly an interest in the community to see what it would be like to create a Sim family from the farm. A Country Life expansion could finally really bring that experience to life. Your Sims could actually own and run their very own farm complete with a massive cornfield that is subject to being the latest target for mysterious crop circles. There is a ton of fun gameplay that can be added to a more rural experience and it would certainly be interesting to see how more country-raised Sims mingle with their Sim counterparts from the big city.
