Oracle Ascension Coins

As you go about your journey in Final Fantasy XV, you’ll occasionally come across some Oracle Ascension Coins. These are actually a form of end-game currency that you can use to buy powerful equipment and accessories to help you out with the game’s tougher bosses and dungeons. Once you arrive in Altissia, you can head straight to Palsimo Street Station to look for an NPC who will gladly accept those coins and hand over some useful gear.

The NPC is located on the river level, in the restaurant where the Justice Monsters Five pinball machines are located. Look out for the man in the jacket and hat sitting at the table, talk to him, and you’ll be able to spend your Oracle Ascension Coins here.

Unlocking the Dungeon Doors

Final Fantasy XV’s main story will have you hunt down Royal Tombs, which are usually buried deep within creepy dungeons. In some of these dungeons, you might’ve also noticed a few locked doors here and there. If you’ve been wondering how exactly to get these doors open, you can only do so after beating the game.

Once you’ve completed the main story, head to the Hunter HQ just east of the Vesperpool and look for the old lady Ezma. She’ll be sitting on a rocking chair on one of the porches. Talk to her, and she’ll hand over a key, and trigger the side quest ‘Menace Beneath Lucis.’ Now, you’ll be able to open those locked doors and test your mettle in some seriously high-leveled dungeons. Do note that this quest is only accessible once you’ve cleared the main game and all optional dungeons.

Regalia Type-F

The Regalia Type-F is the awesome flying car that we saw so many times in Final Fantasy XV’s promotional material. However, you can’t actually get it by just completing the main story missions. As you progress through the game, you’ll unlock a side quest that requires you to infiltrate Formouth Garrison, which is the third and final imperial base in Eos. You’ll automatically clear the other two bases by simply following the story.

Once you’ve taken over Formouth Garrison, you’ll obtain the Strange Engine. Take this back to Cindy at the Hammerhead garage, have her install the new component, and your car will be transformed into the Regalia Type-F.

Pitioss Ruins

There’s a super secret dungeon hidden away in the darkest corner of Final Fantasy XV’s world map, and you can only get to it after beating the game and obtaining the Regalia Type-F. If you take a look at your map, you’ll find a small yellow strip next to the Ravatogh volcano. It doesn’t look like much, but it’s actually a road that you can land on if you have your flying car with you. If you can nail the landing, you’ll find yourself in a brand new area with the Pitioss Ruins.

This is one of the most unique dungeons that Final Fantay XV has to offer, and I highly recommend that you check it out once you’ve unlocked the means to do so.

Shorter Nights

This is a really small change, but it’s one that has pretty significant impact on how you play the game. After beating the game, Final Fantasy XV recognizes that Noctis and his crew have successfully restored light to the land of Eos. This means that nights will now be a lot shorter, and you’ll have even more hours in the daytime to mess around with. Prior to beating the game, nights would start at around 6pm and end at 8am. However, after beating the story, you’ll get about four more extra hours of daylight, allowing you to complete even more daytime quests and hunts before time runs out.

Not only that, Ignis will now be able to drive the Regalia at night, meaning players no longer have to manually drive around the world once night falls. Both of these are incredibly useful changes, and should help with faster completion of side quests and content.

That 72-Hour Boss Fight

Conan O’Brien’s Final Fantasy XV Clueless Gamer episode brought up an interesting tidbit about the game: there was a boss fight that would take you 72 hours to beat. Now, I haven’t tackled this colossal challenge myself, but it looks like the boss fight in question can only be unlocked after you’ve beaten the game. Upon returning to the present, Cindy will call you up and present a new side quest called ‘Let Sleeping Mountains Lie.’

This quest will pit you against a mountain-sized Adamantoise. Needless to say, this will likely be one of the toughest boss fights the game has to offer, and you should definitely make some serious preparations before you even think about attempting it. Still, 72 hours? Sounds like a blast.
