From Star Wars to Harry Potter, LEGO has been making quality video-game versions of top-flight move franchises for several years. However, they have missed a few big-name franchises that we would love to see get the beat-em-up, puzzler treatment. Here are five movie franchises that need LEGO game spin-offs.
X-Men
We have seen Marvel superheroes, Batman, and DC villains take the plunge into the brick-building aesthetic, but we have yet to have a stand-alone X-Men title.
Considering X-Men offers a fan-favorite set of characters, as well as the fact it is one of the highest-grossing film franchises of all time, it would perfectly match up with what LEGO is currently transitioning to game form.
With a vast array of characters to swap between, thousands of stories that could be told, and locales far and wide to explore, X-Men would make so much sense.
Considering a lot of the gameplay could match up to the actual way these super-humans fight as well, X-Men is a no-brainer.
Fast and the Furious
With high-intensity action, the Fast and the Furious film franchise could make a lot of sense if taken onto video game consoles in LEGO-form.
Still riding high popularity, this series of films has some of the most passionate fans around, and with the recent attempts to convert that fame into gaming entries, a partnership with LEGO could really shake things up.
Although the gameplay might not match up perfectly, this could offer an interesting twist to the LEGO game brand with a title focusing mainly on racing, rather than its normal style.
With that being said, plenty of action and great areas to visit would be available to them from this franchise, so Fast and the Furious would transition well.
James Bond
James Bond’s storied history spanning 60 years would be a welcome addition to the LEGO video game family.
With so many films to visit this would be a treasure trove of content, and the action-packed fun that comes from the films would easily transition into the puzzling beat ’em up that most LEGO games become.
With the arsenal of gadgets at Bond’s disposal, we could have a field day with the puzzles that could be solved in this LEGO iteration, as well as being able to choose between Connery or Brosnan-Bond.
Fans of the series haven’t had the pleasure of a video game adaptation in some time, so offering a LEGO Bond collection would be a fantastic get.
Star Trek
We have already made our way through the entire Star Wars series, along with an upcoming collection that will gather all the movies into one release, but we have yet to go boldly where no man has gone before.
From TV shows to movies—new and old—the breadth of what could be offered in a collection of Star Trek LEGO content could be astronomical.
Add in the number of characters between each series and the alien races and you would have the swappable characters. Setting the phasers to stun and having Scotty beam us up could encapsulate the puzzle sections. And finally, William Shatner narrating his own attacks would make this a thing of beauty.
Star Trek has been the little brother to Star Wars for long enough. Make them a LEGO game already.
Toy Story
Toys becoming different toys is a bit of a stretch, but the classic Toy Story franchise would work perfectly in LEGO-form for that exact reason.
The gang getting back together again on another adventure is something fans young and old would enjoy, and the variety in toys and tools that could be used would match up swimmingly.
Perhaps they have to find out why they have been turned into LEGOs? Some evil-doer is up to no good and it’s up to Woody, Buzz, and the rest to get back to normal and to Andy’s room?
Regardless, toys being toys would be toy-tally awesome!
