The Bigger Game – Metal Gear Survive
Xbox Games with Gold Predictions
For the current month of January, Microsoft has offered four games for free on Games with Gold including Little Nightmares, Dead Rising, The King of Fighters XIII, and Breakdown. While the offical list for the upcoming month of February 2021 has yet to be released, we have some Xbox Games with Gold predictions in the meantime to tide us over.
Usually a larger AAA title headlines the list, and for next month we suspect Metal Gear Survive would be a perfect choice.
Metal Gear Survive didn’t sell the best when it first released back in 2018, with 2013’s Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance reporting selling twice the rate when it first released. Survive also was placed only 65th in the player count data on Steam in the first few months that it came out.
It therefore seems likely for Konami to opt for offering it on Games with Gold. Other Metal Gear games have also been offered for free on Games with Gold in the past as well, including:
- Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (Xbox One) in August 2015
- Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (Xbox 360) in October 2015
- Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in May 2018
- Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance in March 2019
When a previous or follow-up game in a series is included on Games with Gold, it’s usually a pretty good indicator that another entry in the same series has at least been discussed as a potential pick as a free game in the future.
The Smaller Game – Castlevania: Harmony of Despair
Xbox Games with Gold Predictions
After a larger, more well-known title, usually a smaller game or two makes the list as well. Microsoft has also been rolling out a ton of smaller games specifically for Xbox 360 players as of late.
For February 2021, we therefore predict Castlevania: Harmony of Despair would be a perfect inclusion.
Another Konami pick on the list, Castlevania: Harmony of Despair originally released on PS3 and Xbox 360 way back in 2011.
Since mid-2019, Microsoft has actually been offering quite a few older Castlevania games on Games with Gold, all of which were only offered on Xbox 360 platforms. This includes:
- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night in July 2019
- Castlevania: Lords of Shadow in August 2019
- Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD in December 2019
- Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 in March 2020
Maybe Microsoft will keep this Castlevania train going into 2021 and offer another entry in the series for Xbox 360 players to enjoy.
Check back with Twinfinite in the next week or so for the official announcement from Microsoft as to what free games are offered on Xbox Games with Gold for February 2021.
