4K and High Dynamic Range (HDR) Gaming
The PS4 Pro will support 4K and HDR gaming, allowing for unprecedented visual acuity that could truly usher gaming into the future. Games on the Ps4 Pro will run faster and smoother, as well as have the very best visuals that developers can squeeze out of the hardware. 4K Streaming
The PS4 Pro Will support 4K streaming out of the box. In order to make sure that fans are getting their money’s worth, Netflix is teaming up with Sony to provide a brand new app for the upcoming console that will kick off with over 600 hours of 4K content. On top of that, YouTube will also be introducing a brand new app that will support the new capabilities of the machine as well as take advantage of your more high-tech displays.
Supports Your Current Library
The PS4 Pro will allow current PS4 users to transfer over their library. Sony is making an effort to make it clear that the PS4 Pro is indeed part of this generation so that fans can expect to not be left behind. Graphical fidelity will be increased and developers will have the tools necessary to make their games even better.

You know how that 500 GB HDD filled up so rapidly as the large influx of PS4 games came pouring in? Pretty annoying, huh? Sony seems to be aware of that and will be offering a full 1 TB HDD. That’s double the space, allowing you to transfer over even more of your games from the standard PS4 or to support your need for digital gaming over physical. However you want to use the space, you now have it available in the PS4 Pro.
Can Sense Your Monitor Type
One worry that many fans had as we approached the announcement of PS4 Pro (which was known as NEO previously) was it being focused on 4K and other high resolution displays. Naturally, it wasn’t going to work with standard televisions if it was built for 4K displays, right? Sony was one step ahead and designed the new console to identify the type of display it’s connected to whether its 4K, UHD, standard HD, or a PSVR headset.
This means that it will always provide the best possible image on the screen no matter what you connect it to.
Are There Any Benefits to Using a PS4 Pro on a Non-4K Television?
The PS4 Pro is built to take advantage of the wide range of 4K televisions and screens that support HDR. If you want to take full advantage of the new tech, then you will most certainly need a TV that fits those specifications. However, you can still get some benefits on your standard HDTV right now.
The Pro will upgrade images to their highest possible fidelity on your television meaning that if there was a game that didn’t support native 1080p, it now will. If a game was displaying in a lower resolution, such as 720p, it will now be upscaled to 1080. 4K content will be optimized for your display as well.
While this may not necessarily be the biggest jump, if you want to make the most out of your current TV, it’s worth considering. Sure, it’s not quite 4K, but no need to rush for a new screen right away.
How Will Share Work?
Of course, the PS4 Pro will still be using a DualShock 4, meaning you’ll still have your trusty Share button. On the standard PS4 this button is used to capture screens at 1080p and video at 720p/30 FPS. That will be seeing an upgrade to 4K screenshots and 1080p/30 FPS video captures. Streaming will also get a boost so that it can support 1080p video at 60 FPS.
Release Date and Price
The PS4 Pro will be available on Nov. 10 of this year for only $399. That’s much cheaper than fans were expecting. The fact that it’s right around the corner after so many rumors and all the speculation is the most interesting tidbit. Back in June, Sony barely wanted to acknowledge that the NEO even existed and today they couldn’t stop providing some interesting details on the PS4 Pro.
