It’s that time of year, folks. E3 is right around the corner, and the buzz around the show is ramping up to the extremes. At the center of this buzz stands Nintendo, who hasn’t been in this great of a spot since the 2006 release of the original Wii console. So far, 2017 has been a huge year for Nintendo, particularly due to the release of the Switch and The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild. With E3 rapidly approaching, they are looking to capitalize on their success as they reveal more information on upcoming games. Here is everything that is confirmed to be revealed by Nintendo at this year’s E3.
Splatoon 2
This sequel to one of the system sellers for the Wii U, Splatoon 2 looks to build upon the strong foundation of its predecessor. By introducing a variety of new weapons, maps, and game types, this game will be one of the Switch’s must-haves when it releases this July. It is confirmed that there will be a tournament for the game at Nintendo’s booth that will be livestreamed on both YouTube and Twitch.

Mario Odyssey
Expected to be the heavy hitter this E3 for Nintendo, Odyssey seems to be a huge departure from past titles. Being described by the developers themselves as the first sandbox-styled game in the franchise since Super Mario Sunshine, this adventure will see the plumber leaving the Mushroom Kingdom to explore worlds never seen before in past games.
The reveal trailer showed off a variety of levels for players to explore, from a New York-esque city to a dense forest, as they once again race to save Princess Peach from the clutches of the evil Bowser. One huge game changer that will see its debut with Odyssey is that Mario now has the ability to throw his hat. In another huge twist, the hat now has eyes and seems like it can potentially be a whole new character for the Mario universe. Will the hat not appreciate being thrown around? What happens if it gets dizzy?
We can only look forward to E3 for Nintendo to answer this and the many other big questions that surround this upcoming release.
ARMS
ARMS is the third and final game that Nintendo has confirmed will be at E3 this year. Fully utilizing the motion capabilities that the Switch offers, up to four players can duke it out online as they unlock a plethora of different Arms to mix up their combat style with. With what we know so far, there are 9,000 different combinations of arms that you can have on your character with unique looks and abilities. This ensures that ARMS will have a deep customization aspect, with a lot of experimenting to be done to find that perfect wombo combo.
Just like Splatoon 2, there will be a tournament livestreamed on YouTube and Twitch. However unlike the other tournament, it will be open to the attendees of the convention.
Nintendo’s E3 2017 Livestreams
Similar to the last few years, Nintendo will not be hosting their own press conference at E3 this year. Instead, they will be hosting livestreams to show off their games and to reveal the surprises that are sure to be announced. The dates and times for these broadcasts can be seen below.
Other than Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, and ARMS, Nintendo’s E3 plans remain shrouded in mystery. What sort of surprises does Nintendo have in store for us? Only time will tell.
