World of Final Fantasy Maxima (Nov. 6)

World of Final Fantasy Maxima

To be honest, World of Final Fantasy didn’t really impress me when it first released on PS4 and Vita a couple of years ago. Sure, getting to revisit my favorite series characters in chibi form was cool and all, but it was also structured around a new story and two new original characters that couldn’t be less interesting if they tried.

If you can look past the subpar story, however, World of Final Fantasy boasts a pretty unique combat system where you’ll have to manage your characters and creatures’ large and small sizes to use different abilities in battle. As you progress through the game, you’ll also unlock Champion Medals that allow you to summon Final Fantasy characters to help you in battle.

This new Maxima update will introduce new heroes, along with a brand new system that turns the original characters, Reynn and Lann, into Champions. World of Final Fantasy Maxima’s bite-sized gameplay style makes it an excellent fit for the Switch, and it’s a good one to keep an eye on if you’re a JRPG fan.
