Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe might have just been a port of the Wii U version with some cleaned up game modes, but it ended up out-selling the Wii U version which is just insane when you think about it.
But Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has so much content that it’s honestly hard to say anything bad about it. The game’s beautiful visuals shine even more on the Switch in docked mode and four-player local play still works without a hitch.
You can hop online and race against anyone the world, check out the battle modes and complete all of the Grand Prix races. Oh, and if you never played the Wii U version, you’ll have access to all of the characters that were added as DLC like Link, Cat Peach, and Isabelle –you can race as Isabelle for crying out loud!
Fast RMX
Nintendo doesn’t seem interested in giving us a new F-Zero game anytime soon, leaving Fast RMX to take its place. No, you won’t find Captain Falcon in this futuristic sci-fi arcade racer, but the feeling and aesthetic of F-Zero is all over the place in Fast RMX.
Fast RMX can be played locally and online with up to 7 other players; and with up to 30 tracks that are set in cities, forest, and canyons making for a high-octane multiplayer experience that only exists on the Nintendo Switch.
Trials Rising
Trials Rising is a ridiculous physics-based racing game that has a sort of 2.5D camera angle to it. The goal is to simply get to the end of the map by speeding through big jumps and annoying obstacles, but it’s not all about speed in Trials, as you have to move the control stick up and down carefully to successfully land your bikes jumps.
It can be hard to get used to not pressing the acceleration button down for the entire race, but Trials Rising’s light puzzle elements makes you have to think a little bit more compared to other racers that solely focus on going fast.
There are tons of tracks for you to play, and there’s also a new Tandem mode that lets two players take control of one bike. Yup, it’s a complete and absolute mess of an idea, but you’re sure to get a few good laughs out of it.
Road Redemption
Road Redemption takes the simple act of motorcycle racing and turns it onto a crazy action-packed bloodthirsty for the prize. You can race other players and use tons of weapons to take care of the competition such as shotguns, bats, swords, and whatever items you can get your hands on.
As you progress, you can upgrade your character as well as your motorcycle to get a leg up on your foes. Road Redemption is a crazy fun racer on the Nintendo Switch that’s worth playing if you wanna bash some heads in while partaking in thrilling motorcycle races and completing assassination missions.
Sega Ages: Outrun
This Sega port of the classic arcade racer on Switch, Outrun, has got to be the best place to now play this retro racer. This version of the old-school title comes with loaded with new features like online leaderboards, brand-new music tracks, enhanced visuals, and more.
Cruizing down the highways on your Switch in the docked mode makes the game look better than it ever has, and thanks to the tighter controls due to the Switch, OutRun plays better than ever as well.
