Ambipom

Ambipom is a “Long Tail” Pokemon that first appeared in the Diamond and Pearl generation. To get one, fans must evolve an Aipom by leveling it up until it learns the move Double Hit. It’s a Normal-type and has access to moves such as Fury Swipes, Scratch, and Dual Chop. Appearance-wise, it is a purple simian-looking monkey with two tails. Because its tails act like hands, the Pokemon rarely uses its arms.

From its appearance alone, Ambipom would be one of the perfect Nintendo candidates for ARMS. The Pokemon is skilled in physical combat with its extendable twin tails and natural finesse. Ambipoms are said to have brilliant speed and can leap from tree to tree, making it a powerful foe. In ARMS, the pocket monster could have access to some of its in-game attacks, similar to how Pokken uses real moves from the game. For its unique ability, Ambipom could have Technician, which powers up its light punches after losing a certain amount of health. Overall, Ambipom would be a great fighter for new players.

Deoxys

Deoxys is the “DNA” Pokemon that appears as a legendary monster in the Ruby and Sapphire franchise. Players could not simply catch the monster in the original game as they would need to get a special item known as the “Aurora Ticket” through a Mystery Event. However, Deoxys was later worked into the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire remakes for the 3DS. It is a Psychic-type that has an alien-like design that isn’t limited to its specific form.

The monster also lives up to its reputation as a Legendary Pokemon through its devastating moves like Psychic and Psycho Boost. In ARMS, Deoxys can easily extend its arm-like body parts as a weapon to hit foes. The Pokemon could also have a special Forme Change ability similar to how Shulk can change his arts in Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U. Deoxys would start off in its Normal Forme and will later have access to Attack, Defense, and Speed depending on the damage it’s dealt. The Attack Forme could enhance its strength at the cost of defense while its Defense Forme would make it immune to certain knock backs in exchange for speed. Lastly, the Speed Forme could give it the ability to double jump and evade blows faster at the cost of power. Deoxys would be best-suited to players who have a good understanding of the game, while wanting a more diverse playstyle.

Midna

Midna is one of the main protagonists in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. She stumbles across Link early in the game who had gotten himself into some serious trouble at the time. While she may come off as selfish and brash at first, Midna eventually learned to change her outlook on life and towards those who helped her. She appears mostly in her cursed form throughout the game where she looks similar to an imp with a mask covering her head.

Midna’s cursed form is one of the many playable characters in Hyrule Warriors where she relies mainly on the power of the Fused Shadow to fight. While she still retains her ability to summon Twilight portals and use magic, it has been weakened significantly. Nonetheless, she is still a formidable foe especially with her ability to manipulate her hair into a large hand. Having only one hand would become Midna’s unique characteristic in ARMS. To compensate, she could have a larger hitbox as compared to the rest of the roster and also possess the skill to knock back most attacks. For her unique ability, Midna could also come riding into the battlefield with a Twilight Wolfos that she can use to tackle the enemy for a follow-up attack. Mastering Midna would take extreme skill, but the payoff would be worth it.

Lanky Kong

Lanky Kong is one of the more obscure Kong family members who made his debut in Donkey Kong 64. He’s one of Donkey Kong’s trusted allies who helps him after being freed from the clutches of the Kremling Krew. Lanky Kong has one of the more unique appearances when compared to his siblings due to his abnormal body and lengthy arms. Nevertheless, this orange animal can still hold his own in battle using his Grape Shooter and Baboon Balloon among other items.

His lanky arms are not just for show, as Lanky Kong often uses them to walk around. He also learns the Simian Slam that can be used to hit switches or pound enemies to a pulp. Lanky Kong could get a burst of much-needed popularity by being a guest character in ARMS seeing as how he already has the body for it. His lanky arms could easily reach opponents from across the field and act as a faster form of walking when he’s not attacking. Lanky Kong could have a handstand ability that takes effect after a few seconds of not attacking. While doing this, Lanky Kong could avoid attacks more easily but would have a slower startup when striking again. He would be something of a zoning character and recommended for intermediate players.
