September 2017 Video Game Releases

(Week One: Sept. 4-8)

As 2017 moves into the Autumn season, game releases are starting to ramp up. It’s not that this summer gave us a drought by any means (we saw a ton of games in July and August), it’s just that now there are even more games to play, if you can believe that. September starts things off with a really strong first week that includes a highly anticipated sequel as well as some other games to dive into across the current gen platforms.

Headlining this month is Destiny 2, the follow-up to Bungie’s shared-world shooter that sees players using space magic as they shoot angry aliens in the face. Knack 2 follows where the original PS4 launch title left off with its tight combat and puzzles that revolve around growing big and shedding all your relics to become a tiny little hero. Monster Hunters heads to the 3DS once again, only this time for something a bit different in Monster Hunter Stories. All the upcoming releases have the potential to add something interesting to your library, so you may want to check them out.

September 2017 Video Game Releases

(Week Two: Sept. 11-15)

Things don’t slow down in week two of September 2017, the video game releases just keep on coming. The second week of the month is mostly housed by sports titles for those looking to build their own teams, take down their favorite racers, or just dunk on the competition. However, there are a few more genres present during the week as well, such as action and RPG.

The Switch finally gets Rayman Legends, which is a must-have if you love platforming, music, and just beautiful artwork. XCOM 2’s expansion hits consoles. Divinity: Original Sin II releases on PC, offering players a new, massive RPG to immerse themselves in. Or you can jump in to a more classic series such as Ys as its latest entry hits the PS4 and Vita later this month. Oh, and don’t forget about the complete remake of the second Metroid game, Metroid: Samus Returns. 3DS owners are in for a real treat as they dive into this updated classic.

September 2017 Video Game Releases

(Week Three: Sept. 18-22)

Week three slows down just a bit on the AAA releases, but there are still some titles to keep your eyes on. The 3DS gets Pokemon Gold and Silver, two of the best games in the entire monster-catching series. Fans of the franchise also have something on the Switch to look forward to as well in the form of Pokken Tournament DX. This remastered fighter includes all of the updates the arcade version received (which means a larger roster than the Wii U version) as well as some spiffy new visuals.

If you prefer your fighting to stick more to comics and Capcom properties, Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is also due out this week. One of the standouts of the week, though, is clearly Project Cars 2 which really pushes current gen consoles to their absolute limit with stunning vehicles and photo realistic tracks.

(Week Four: Sept. 25-29)

Week four closes the month out strongly with something for everyone. While it not have as much in the way of new blockbusters as the earlier weeks, there are definitely a lot of titles (both indie and AAA) to keep on your radar.

Cuphead will finally be released, letting Xbox One and PC users take in the gorgeous, hand-drawn graphics and the tough gameplay on offer. Total War: Warhammer is back for a second round of deep strategy and monster slaying. Batman continues his investigation in the second episode of The Enemy With as Harley Quinn joins the cast. And, if you need a bit more superhero action as we move closer to the holiday season, Megaton Rainfall lets players feel like superman as they work to defend the entire planet.
