Touch of Malice

Touch of Malice is a raid exotic that feels as great as it should. Don’t get us wrong, the Vex Mythosclast was amazing, but it lacked that special something that made it worth the headaches (especially after being nerfed). Touch of Malice, on the other hand, has that presence that reminds you of what you had to go through to get it.

It’s two standout perks, Touch of Malice and Touch of Mercy, make for an interesting dance with death as you punish your enemies. The last round in a magazine never wastes and deals bonus damage at the cost of the wielder’s life. Touch of Mercy, however, heals the wielder after every three rapid kills. In skilled hands, this is an unstoppable force of bullets and death. Just ask Oryx.

Ace of Spades

destiny ace of spades

Ace of Spades is a very good reason to be jealous of Hunters in Destiny. This class exclusive hand cannon offers insane impact, and balaced stats across the board, although it doesn’t have the best rate of fire. Still, with its special perks, players are in for for a good time of catching everyone with headshots from this potent firearm.

Firefly causes foes killed with precision shots to explode, while at the same time, Maverick will reload that round for you. If you’re worried about someone sneaking up while you’re aiming at some hapless fool, there is no need. Third Eye will make sure you’ll get the drop on anyone in proximity.

Imago Loop

Players everywhere lamented the lost of their Fatebringer once Destiny Year Two hit. What was arguably one of the best hand cannons, and best weapons period, for PvE was becoming useless as Oryx’s forces advanced. But the Traveller smiled upon us all.

The Imago loop is essentially a silver Fatebringer. you have a chance to obtain this weapon by either completing the Echo Chamber or The Undying Mind strikes. Its perks allow for quick, precise handling, perfect for rapid headshots and forcing distance between you and your opponents.

Dragon’s Breath (Year 2)

destiny dragon's breath year two

Let’s be honest, the year one Dragon’s Breath couldn’t hold a candle to the Gjallarhorn and Truth. Those were both exceptional rocket launchers that had the added bonus of tracking. The weapon looked cool, but the Solar Flare perk was relatively useless against most bosses since none really stood still.

That all changed with the introduction of Napalm. Release the trigger after firing a rocket to drop a canister of liquid fire. Perfect for covering areas in heat and keeping the damage flowing. Gjallarhorn may be stuck in the past, but the future is warm and sunny with the Dragon’s Breath.

1000-Yard Stare

destiny 1000 yard stare

There’s a reason so many Guardians swear by the 1000-Yard Stare sniper rifle. It can be purchased from the Vanguard Quartermaster or earned through quests, and all of its perks are random. Normally that would mean that it isn’t worth your time, but in the case of the 1000-Yard Stare, this weapon can do no wrong.

Each combination leaves you with a deadly accurate firearm with decent impact and a long range. Possible perks such as Explosive Rounds, Life Support, and Guerilla Fighter will help to make you all the more dangerous as an added bonus.

Zhalo Supercell

Chain lighting. That’s the only reason you really need to understand why Zhalo Supercell is one of the best weapons in Destiny. Persistence and Bolts from the Blue help to keep the havoc going. The first perk increases your stability as you fire. Bolts from the Blue grants return ammo and helps to charge your super as you get double kills.

Zhalo Supercell is the perfect crowd control weapon and helps to make Nightfalls a breeze. Don’t leave the Tower without it.

The 4th Horseman

destiny the 4th horseman

The 4th Horseman is the gun you use when you want your opponents to know without a shadow of a doubt that they won’t survive. This shotgun eats through armor and health with zero issues. Its loud roar as you pump rounds into opponents is intimidating, and it will bring endless smiles as you drop countless bodies.

On top of the Arc Burn offered by this exotic shotgun, you have the Thunderer, Final Round, and Return to Sender perks. That means you can fire in full auto, your last bullet in the clip does extra damage, and you have a chance to get your bullet back after a kill. Definitely one of Destiny’s best weapons and a shotgun for the ages.

Exotic Swords

When Bungie revealed that it was adding swords, fans had a feeling it would be awesome. The Dark Below gave a taste of what it would be like running around with a cool melee weapon. The legendary sword you could craft brought back that feeling, but things got even better once you completed the long quest to make that sword exotic.

The exotic swords are bigger, badder versions of their legendary counterpart. Depending on which burn you chose (Void, Solar, Arc) you got a whirlwind attack, uppercut, or wave projectile. The exotic swords quickly became ranked among the best weapons in the game for their sheer power and ability to embarrass boss enemies.

Bad Juju

destiny bad juju

The Bad Juju is often overlooked when considering great Pulse Rifles in Destiny. It isn’t particularly powerful, but its perks more than make up for that. With the ability to be fired full auto and perks that help bring some solid stability, Bad Juju is dangerous in the right hands.

Once you get a hang of its primary perk, String of Curses, you become an unstoppable gunner who is great at medium to long range and never has to reload. Now that’s a weapon worth owning.

Telesto

destiny telesto

Fusion Rifles are the bane of many a Guardian’s existence. Their high-impact make for instant kills more often than not, and their method of fire made it possible to take out multiple enemies if they were lined up just right. It would be hard to imagine a Fusion Rifle getting any more dangerous, but then Telesto came along.

As if being able to kill anything at point blank range wasn’t enough, this weapon shoots fusion blasts that stick. Paint an enemy with some shots and watch as it runs to its friends and takes them down. Nothing like little purple, sticky blasts to make this one of Destiny’s best weapons.
