Zelda Gold
Regardless of your opinions on whether or not a gold controller is “tacky,” there is a long history of Nintendo offering special edition hardware based on the Zelda franchise that is plated in gold.
Starting as a tradition with the original Legend of Zelda cartridge on the NES, Zelda Gold has become a staple in the long line of colors that Nintendo has offered. Whether it was the Special Edition Majoras Mask 3DS, the rare Golden Nunchuck available only to select Club Nintendo members, or the limited edition Gold N64, Nintendo has a clear fascination with the color.
Given that fascination, it’s bizarre that Nintendo has held out this long without giving players a Golden pair of Joy-Cons to bling out their Switch.
However, fans of the color may be in luck.
Considering that Nintendo has been known to release these limited edition colors right around the same time as a new Zelda title, we can be left to speculate whether the Breath of The Wild sequel will be the time when players will get their hands on the gold.
