THE SWORDS OF DITTO
Best Multiplayer and Co-Op Games of April 2018
Action RPG The Swords of Ditto released for PS4 and PC last month, offering a solo campaign of fighting monsters and exploring dungeons that is also compatible with couch co-op play for two players.
In The Swords of Ditto, players are tasked with expelling monsters controlled by the evil Mormo from a colorful but dangerous island, and as each hero’s story comes to an end their successes and failures can pass on to the next hero you play as. In a circular structure, you awaken with three days to defeat Mormo with a randomly given hero before you must pass the torch to the next. Essentially you are trying to make your new hero stronger with each generation, and the world around you changes as well with each new passing.
The Swords of Ditto has shared/split-screen co-op for up to two players, and released for PC and PS4 on April 24.
YAKUZA 6: THE SONG OF LIFE (MINI-GAMES)
Best Multiplayer and Co-Op Games of April 2018
While the majority of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is strictly single-player, the game does feature a few co-op mini-games you and a friend can take advantage of if you so please.
The two mini-games accessible from the main menu screen include a version of Puyo Puyo, a puzzle game where you match colored shapes that fall from the top of the screen in pairs, triplets, or tetrads with four or more of the same color lining up, causing them to disappear.
The other is an in-game version of Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown, the 2012 fighting game from SEGA that released for PS3 and Xbox 360. In the game you can wander into an arcade and play it there by yourself, or play against a friend from the menu screen. This marks the first time Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown is available to play on PS4.
Yakuza 6: The Song of Life released exclusively for PS4 on April 17.
