Yo-Kai Watch always gets compared to Pokemon simply because of the fact that you capture monsters, use them in battle, and train them to level up and learn new abilities. Yo-Kai Watch finally made it overseas a few years ago, but unfortunately the series hasn’t been getting as much recognition here in the west as it did in Japan. Still, seeing a new console version of Yo-Kai Watch on the Switch would be pretty neat.

The series, like Pokemon, has stayed on portable devices and relies heavily on touchscreen controls. Putting this franchise on the Switch would require Level-5 to overhaul the battle system to make it work on a television screen and a proper controller. Having Yo-Kai Watch on the Switch would open up the series to a whole new audience and would definitely fill that cute role-playing hole that seems to be absent on the Switch – a perfect game to play while we wait for a proper Pokemon title on Switch.
