Squall Leonhart
Best Fighters in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT
It should be noted that Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is a pretty unique fighting game, filled with complex mechanics even down to completely unique ones for each character. Because of this, it’s honestly hard to say that certain characters are far and above better than others. In reality, a lot of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT comes down to learning each character and understanding how their role and class works against others. Realistically, you can do well with just about any character in the game, but we’ve picked out a few that standout due to unique abilities or skillsets.Â
Squall basically epitomizes the Assassin role in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, as he’s a character all about quick strikes. Squall’s biggest weakness is that all of his attacks require him to be close to the enemy, with the exception of his back bravery attack while on the ground. However, Squall’s speed is high enough that you can easily home in on enemies and decimate them with a flurry of quick strikes that all do light damage.
There’s a trick to playing Squall in Dissidia that might take a bit to learn, as you can actually use his Gunblade to up the damage with each strike. With each bravery attack Squall has that does more than one strike, you can actually press the attack button at just exactly the right time as the attack lands to make the Gunblade explode and do extra damage. Again, this timing is absolutely something you’ll need to train to get down. Use Squall’s back bravery attack in the air to your advantage, as it’s one sword strike that lunges toward the enemy and stuns them, leaving it open to another combo.
Just like his bravery attacks, all of Squall’s HP attacks require you to get up close and personal, but they also have a quick execution time, especially his initial Blast Trigger attack. Squall’s EX Skill, Draw and Junction, is also quite handy, as it lets you draw from an enemy and get a stat boost based on their class. Vanguards give you a thirty percent boost to defense, marksmen a thirty percent boost to attack, and assassins a thirty percent boost to speed. Squall is going to require a bit of learning to really get down, but give him a couple offensive EX Skills and you’ve got a blitzing character that can really bring the pain.
Sephiroth
Best Fighters in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT
Sephiroth is very similar to Cloud in the fact that he’s entirely based around combo attacks. He’s also one of the biggest damage dealers in the entire game. As you might expect, Sephiroth’s range is also utterly ridiculous and his attacks can hit multiple enemies at once easily. You can use his unique ability, Dash Cancel, by pressing the dash button right after the end of a combo. If you get the timing right, you can extend a combo or use it to dodge as well.
Because of the sheer size of his weapon, basically all of Sephiroth’s bravery attacks are mid-range. In particular his backward aerial attack is very useful, as he floats back a bit and then unleashes multiple dark waves on the enemy with his sword. You can use this move to drift back as an enemy attacks you, and then hit them with your combo. Combos, combos, and more combos is the name of the game here.
Sephiroth’s HP attacks are a bit different though, as his starting one is a counter that you need to time right, that then launches into a combo. Heartless Angel is a single sword attack that inflicts doom, which puts a timer on the enemy that breaks them when it hits zero. Sephiroth’s EX Skill Jenova is also good for contributing to combos, as it slows enemies within a certain area around him. In terms of Vanguards, Sephiroth is absolutely one of the deadliest in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.
Warrior of Light
Best Fighters in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT
Warrior of Light has a couple advantages over other Vanguards in the game, with his range on some moves being longer than most, as well as the ability to block attacks. Warrior of Light’s back bravery attacks both in the air and on the ground, when executed at the right time, can block an enemy attack and stagger them. This means you’ll need to pull the move out right as the enemy is striking, and like most things in Dissidia NT, you’ll need to work to get the timing right. However, if you do successfully pull it off you’ll block the attack, strike with one of your own, and open up the opportunity for another combo. His dash attack also lets you pull a guard off quickly, then blow the enemy back.
Warrior of Light’s forward bravery attacks on the ground and in the air have some good range to them. Here, he throws his shield forward, catching the enemy, before launching into a combo. These can be useful to throw enemies off who are expecting you to get in super close for an attack, or just to launch the enemy into a wall and proceed with another combo. In terms of HP attacks, Warrior of Light is pretty robust. His initial attack, Shining Wave, has really good range and can track the target’s movement to a degree. Each of his HP attacks after that get shorter and shorter in their range, but add more additional damage when executed.
Warrior of Light basically functions well as a tank, soaking up damage and turning attacks back on an enemy. Because of this, his EX Skill can be useful as it forces enemies within the area to focus on Warrior of Light for 15 seconds, letting you soak up damage while your teammates wreak havoc on the other team.
Ramza Beoulve
Best Fighters in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT
Ramza’s strength comes in playing the role of a support character, as he’s not a huge damage dealer by himself, although he can certainly hold his own. Ramza’s forward bravery attacks are great for pushing enemies into the wall, letting you hit them with another attack like his standard two sword strike bravery attack. Meanwhile, his back bravery attacks are both ranged, with him throwing a rock on the round and calling down a magic explosion in the air. The ground ranged is best used when an enemy is rushing straight at you to stop and stagger them, but the aerial one can be a bit tricky to land. Honestly, it’s best used against an enemy that isn’t targeting you, or one that isn’t moving quickly.
Ramza’s real strength comes with his EX Skill, Shout. By holding down triangle you can charge the skill up quickly, then pressing triangle again will let you use it. Hold triangle down when using the skill and you’ll buff your teammates’ attack, defense, and speed. Simply tap the button and you’ll do the same for just Ramza to a higher degree, also extending the range of some of his combos. When playing as Ramza, you want to make liberal use of Shout to buff both you and your team constantly. Combining this with other EX Skills like HP Regen and Boost Defense can make Ramza an invaluable support to your team.
On top of this, all of Ramza’s HP attacks have medium range and quick execution, meaning you can zip in and land one on an enemy that’s unaware. Stick close to your teammates and Ramza becomes an incredibly useful character in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.
Noctis Lucis Caelum
Best Fighters in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT
Noctis has a ton of potential for quick combos, especially when going up against marksman characters. All of Noctis’ bravery attacks have quick execution, and nearly each one sets up for you to launch into another combo. In particular, his forward bravery attacks are great at launching enemies into a wall, while his backward attacks can take an enemy by surprise who’s rushing at you from either above or below.
Noctis has a couple of unique abilities that really set him apart as a character, the first of which is his EX Skill, Warp. Noctis starts each match with Warp already active, and it has three different levels that charge up. By hitting triangle, Noctis will throw his weapon a set distance and then instantly warp to it. This move is fantastic for taking enemies by surprise, quickly closing the gap and then letting you launch right into a combo. Combined with that, if you do launch into a bravery attack right out of Warp, it’ll reduce the cooldown of the ability.
Noctis’ other unique ability is Armiger, which lets him summon his iconic floating arsenal of weapons around him. Armiger only activates when Noctis is below 1500 HP, but it boosts his damage with each bravery attack quite a bit. The other good thing is that Armiger is a permanent buff that activates when your health is low, so even if Noctis is healed by an EX Skill back to full health, he’ll still keep the Armiger until he’s KOd. Noctis’ Warp ability combined with his high speed and Armiger make him a great Assassin type character, and the worst nightmare of any Marksman in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.
Bartz Klauser
Best Fighters in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT
Bartz is in the Specialist class in Dissidia NT and boy does it show, as he’s an incredibly unique character that bundles elements of the three other classes into one. All of his attacks have the unique ability to grow with his Job Master mechanic, boosting damage and gaining a permanent buff for the battle. Like with most characters in the game, however, you’ll need to learn how to use him properly.
Basically, the way Job Master works is that each of Bartz’s attacks are based on a certain job from Final Fantasy V. Landing or using these attacks a certain amount of times in a match will “master” them, giving them a boost. The game uses a 12 point system to level up Bartz’s bravery moves, using the attack successfully adds one point, while landing a first hit attack adds six points. HP moves, on the other hand, only need to land two to three times in order to master. If you manage to Master all eight attacks, seven bravery and one HP, then all of Bartz’s buffs will be doubled. This means that in the right hands, Bartz can become an absolute monster of a damage dealer.
It also helps that the character’s bravery attacks span close to long-range, with his back attacks focusing on range. Mastering attacks can also add a tiny bit to their range. Bartz’s HP attacks are just as unique, with one using long-range magic, one using a close-range counter, one being a medium-range sword strike, and the final Dancer HP attack launching a full combo.
Finally, Bartz’s EX Skill, Good Luck Charm, lets him share all of his Mastery buffs with his allies for 20 seconds. Needless to say, if you’ve Mastered a good amount of moves, that’s quite the buff.
The Emperor
Best Fighters in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT
The Emperor is a very different Marksman from other characters, as his skills focus on crowd control, zoning, and setting up traps for enemies. The downside to the Emperor is that he has very few direct attacks, as most of his abilities are either tracking or traps. He absolutely has a high learning curve, and you’re going to have a hard time playing him if you haven’t practiced.
The Emperor’s bravery attacks can let you set up a ridiculous net of zoning attacks for enemies to wade through. His forward ground creates a Light Crest Turret that fires 10 shots at enemies before disappearing, while his normal ground fires a giant fiery sphere that tracks the enemy, same with his normal aerial. His dash bravery is extremely useful, as The Emperor fires 13 mines in all directions around him. This can stop any enemies trying to dash in and attack. Your backward ground attack is also going to be quite useful as it lets you launch an AoE lightning attack right in front of you that can stop enemies in their tracks.
HP attacks also function mostly as traps and homing attacks as well, although they’ve each got pretty decent range. Meanwhile, The Emperor’s EX Skill is more straightforward than most as it launches a massive combo bravery attack that catches the enemy in a trap and then pounds them with meteors. It can be quite hard to land, but if you do, the enemy is caught for seven whole seconds while you wrack up damage, letting you place even more traps and turrets in the meantime. Without a doubt, The Emperor is the hardest Marksman to use in the game, but mastering the character can be very satisfying.
