While the main attractions of E3 will be the Sony and Microsoft press conferences, that’s not to say that the other publishers won’t be dropping some huge announcements of their own. Square Enix will return to E3 this year and has a lot of upcoming projects that it could potentially show. With many Final Fantasy titles either newly announced or soon to release, you can bet your bottom dollar that you’ll see your fair share of the popular JRPG series.
However, for those who’d like to see a little something other than Final Fantasy from Square Enix at E3, there’re a few titles to keep them happy, too. With all that said and done let’s check some of the things you can expect for Square Enix to show at E3 2016.
Final Fantasy VII Remake
The Final Fantasy VII Remake announcement during Sony’s E3 conference last year was one of the most fan-pleasing announcements in recent years of the show. While the initial reveal led to much excitement surrounding the game, some slightly concerning news followed shortly after. The game was revealed to come in an episodic format, leading fans to question exactly what this remake would entail for the beloved classic. Despite this, fans are generally excited for the upcoming title and are eager to see more.
Therefore, Square Enix showing Final Fantasy VII Remake during its E3 conference would help to not only put to bed any misconceptions that fans have of the project but also reignite the excitement surrounding it. Besides, there are seldom better ways that you can start off your conference than with one of the biggest announcements of last year’s show.
Final Fantasy XV
Its been a long time coming, but Final Fantasy XV is finally due to release in September of this year. With the uncovered event back in March releasing a ton of information about the latest title in the popular series, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Square Enix properly show it off during this year’s E3 conference.
While there isn’t much left to be said about the title, an extended look at some gameplay footage wouldn’t seem out of place for fans. You know, just something to set hype meters to 11.
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
Having only been revealed yesterday, you can bet your bottom dollar that the Final Fantasy XII remake, The Zodiac Age, will be shown off in all of its glory during Square’s E3 conference. Touted as basically an HD remaster of Final Fantasy XII: International- Zodiac Job System, this updated version also has a bunch of new systems and changes in the game’s design.
From high-resolution upgrades for all of the character models, environments, and movie scenes, to shorter load times and a high-speed mode, there’s plenty to talk about and show off during a quick slot in Square Enix’s conference.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Since Square Enix’s acquisition of Eidos Montreal, the publisher commonly associated with JRPG’s has broadened its horizons with the revival of the Deus Ex franchise (and Hitman). With Mankind Divided due to release this August, Square will be hoping to build some hype at E3 with some bad ass cutscenes and a ton of action.
Set two years after Human Revolution, Mankind Divided sees Adam Jensen return with a whole host of new technology and body augmentations. A quick sizzle reel showing off some of the new abilities at Jensen’s disposal, or the ways in which these allow for branching routes through a mission would be certain to get fans excited for August.
Hitman
While Hitman is the only game on our list to already be released (well, at least part of it is), it still has more content that’s due to come out following E3.
With E3’s giant audience, it seems like the perfect time for Square Enix and the development team at Eidos Montreal to come out and give fans an update on what’s in store for Hitman. Considering the episodic nature of the game, further locations on top of those already announced to be coming may not be too much of a stretch. Here’s hoping!
Kingdom Hearts III
Originally revealed back at Sony’s E3 conference back in 2013, the wait for Kingdom Hearts III has been long and arduous for fans. With new gameplay elements such as new enemies, summons, and Keyblade transformations shown off in the E3 2015 trailer, fans will be eager to see how it all comes together at this year’s show.
Of course, what every fan will be hoping for is a release date. With this year’s E3 marking the title’s third year openly in development, it seems like the right time for Square Enix to start dropping all of the details on its Disney RPG collaboration.
And that’s just a few ideas of what you can expect to see from Square Enix at this year’s E3. Do you have any predictions? Let us know in the comments below.
