Homefront: The Revolution
As a sequel to Homefront, which was released back in 2011, Homefront: The Revolution is set in Philadelphia, which is under the threat of North Korean forces. It’s your job to lead a resistance group to take Philadelphia back from the North Korean forces, also known as the KPA.
While The Revolution is a sequel to Homefront, this sequel takes place in an alternate reality in 2029, four years after the KPA began their invasion of the United States. Players will take control of Ethan Brady, the leader of a resistance force in Philadelphia. The Revolution is meant to be a reboot of the series, so you don’t have to play Homefront first in order to enjoy this one.
Gameplay
As opposed to Homefront, which was a rather linear FPS, The Revolution will instead place players in an open world setting. Players will be able to explore different districts, and scavenge buildings for materials to modify their gear and weapons. Side missions are also available in Homefront: The Revolution, and players can take on optional tasks like target assassination. The zones in Philadelphia are split into levels of surveillance, so some will be safer than others.
Homefront: The Revolution also comes with a cooperative multiplayer mode. You can group up with three other players and go through missions together. This mode is separate from the main single-player campaign, and it even comes with its own progressions system and rewards. It’s different from the single-player campaign, as teammates will have to actively work together in order to get through missions.
When is it Out?
Homefront: The Revolution is set to be released on May 17, for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game is about 28GB in size, and will come with a day one patch addressing performance issues. While there is paid DLC and microtransactions for the single-player campaign, all DLC released for the cooperative multiplayer mode will be free. This is done so that the online player base won’t be split up, and you’ll be able to jump into the game with your friends at any time.
