Netflix Series You Should Binge in 2019
Kingdom
For all of the many twists that have been made to the Zombie Apocalypse genre, not many have looked to past historical settings or martial arts flicks the way Kingdom does.
Set during the Joseon period of Korean history – basically, anywhere between the 14th and 19th century – the series sees the Crown Prince Yi-Chang tasked with stopping a zombie outbreak orchestrated by a power-hungry faction vying for the throne.
This is easier said than done though, as the survivors have few ways aside from martial arts to defend themselves from the flood of undead monsters bearing down on them.
As such, they must go toe to toe with the monsters in hand to hand combat, making for some high-risk high-reward battles against undead hoards and scheming usurpers alike.
It’s an unlikely mix of genres that is both strange and endlessly entertaining. It may not be for everyone, but those that give it a chance will be sucked in for the whole ride before they know it.
