Looking to fill your Marvel hero quotient this spring but don’t want to wait until May? Well, you don’t have to now. Marvel has announced via Twitter that the movie has been moved up from its previous May 4 release, and rescheduled for an April 27 debut. Now you get to check out your favorite Marvel superheroes on the big screen an entire month earlier, which should be great news to kick off your weekend with.
The announcement happened as part of a playful back-and-forth between Robert Downey Jr., who obviously plays Iron Man in the series, reprising his role in the latest Avengers adventure. There was a bit of cheeky back and forth between Downey Jr.’s Twitter account and the Marvel Studios account, which made for a fun way to announce the movie’s new date.
That’s a FANTASTIC idea! Done.

This move was likely made in a bid to not have to directly compete with the upcoming Han Solo movie, so fans don’t have to make the choice of which to see around the same opening time period. Infinity War will be the first of a two-part set of movies that will end up finishing off with the fourth Avengers film next year, and who knows what’s about to happen? Either way, it’s great news that we’ll be seeing the Avengers assemble even sooner than we thought we would.
