5 Hardest Beasts to Kill in Monster Hunter World

Monster Hunter World

The Bazelgeuse is one of the new creatures in Monster Hunter World and is one of the more tougher hunts in the game. This nefarious wyvern can take to the skies and swoop in at any unsuspecting hunter, crushing them beneath its weight. The Bazelgeuse also boasts tough and rocky armor, so it will take more than a few good hits before it goes down. Probably the worst thing about this monster is that it can inflict Fireblight, slowly eating away at your health.

Thankfully, the Bazelgeuse comes with its own fair share of weaknesses. The wyvern is weak against Lightning-based weapons, and poison is an effective ailment. During the hunt, make sure to aim for these various points: the head, wings, and tail. If you can, try attacking the beast’s legs when it isn’t dropping any explosive scales. The key to finishing this Monster Hunter World hunt is through perfect timing and waiting for the right time to strike.

Kirin

Don’t be fooled by its majestic beauty, the Kirin is a ferocious beast that controls the power of thunder. This unicorn-esque creature returns from the first game, challenging hunter once more with its blistering speed and electrifying attacks. You will want to pack a handful of Nulberries for the fight as the lightning blight is no joke. Careless hunters will find themselves paralyzed throughout most of the fight, leaving them wide open for a good thrashing.

Before attempting the hunt, make sure you come prepared with a fire-charged weapon. You can also tranquilize the Kirin with sleep ailments, offering a few free hits before it runs rampant again. The Kirin’s weak points lie with the head and horn but steer clear when it begins summoning lightning. The best tactic during the hunt is to just avoid any incoming lightning attacks and punish it afterward.

Vaal Hazak

Let’s face it, the undead are a bit overrated nowadays. These slow creatures just aren’t scary anymore, so Capcom decided to turn things up a notch by crafting a zombie dragon. The Vaal Hazak is one of the Elder Dragons in the game, thriving in the heart of the Rotten Vale. This dangerous creature will make quick work of any hunters who come in the fight unprepared. Using its Effluvium, the monster can your current health pool in half until the effect wears off, so you can say goodbye to any of your useful buffs. If that wasn’t bad enough, the Vaal Hazak also has a variety of deadly swipes, charge attacks, and tail swings you have to watch out for.

Fear not, though, as you still have a good shot against this harbinger of death. First off, always remember to pack plenty of Nulberries to counter its annoying Effluvium blasts. Once you get the hang of its attack patterns, strike back with a Dragon-based weapon, or build up some charge and send it flying with the Blast ailment. Don’t forget to target its head, stomach, and tail as you dance around any incoming attacks. The Vaal Hazak will put up a fight, so make sure you’re up to the task if you plan on hunting it.

Nergigante

Like the Bazelgeuse and Vaal Hazak, the Nergigante is another dangerous addition to the list of savage creatures in Monster Hunter World, charging at hunters with its six limbs and spiked body. These spikes automatically regenerate during the fight, and they will continue to grow unless you break them off. Once they become too long, the Nergigante can deflect any incoming strikes and deal more damage with its constant lunges and dive bombs. Unlike the other monsters in the game, this creature is less likely to run away, even when at low health.

Before enlisting for the hunt, bring any lightning-based weapons with you. Since the Nergigante is also susceptible to poison, try inflicting the ailment early during the fight to whittle away its health. Always avoid any incoming dive bomb attacks since one strike will usually mean certain death. Once it’s exposed, retaliate by aiming for its head, forelegs, and horns. It’s worth noting that the Nergigante is a long hunt, so be prepared to sink in the whole fifty minutes during the fight.

Rathalos

Monster Hunter World

A Monster Hunter game wouldn’t truly be complete without the king of the heavens, the Rathalos. The behemoth returns to terrorize new and old hunters alike in Monster Hunter World with its razor-sharp claws and deadly flames. It retains most of its original moves from the series, causing fireblight with the flames it spews from its mouth. The Rathlos is at its deadliest in the air, attacking players with its poison-filled claws. It’s no pushover on the ground, either, as it has a variety of lunges and tail sweeps.

Despite its ferocity, the Rathlos is weak against Dragon-based attacks. You should also bring any weapons or items that can cause the Sleep ailment to knock it out of the sky for a few seconds. Once the dragon crumbles to the ground, hunters should focus on bludgeoning its face and legs. Make the most out of your terrain and lure the monster to ledges where you can jump off and attack it.
