How to do CHARGED ATTACKS – THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: BREATH OF THE WILD

Recommended Videos

Amid all the various ways to attack in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Link also has the option to power up and unleash a charged attack on his enemies.

In order to do a charged attack, Link will have to be within range of an enemy. By pressing and holding the Y button, Link will begin to charge up as indicated by a glowing meter filling up his green stamina bar. You can then release the Y button at any point during the charge-up to execute the attack, with longer charges offering up more damage at the cost of stamina. If Link is damaged at all during the power up of his charged attack, it is interrupted and he will have to start again.

Charge attacks also differ in regard to the type of weapon you have equipped. For example, if Link tries to do a charge attack while holding a sword, he will do a classical Zelda-style circle attack, whereas if he was holding a spear he does a series of forward-aimed stabs.
