Ubisoft has announced today that its virtual reality multiplayer games will support multiple VR headsets across different platforms. That means PC players with an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive can play multiplayer games together alongside PlayStation 4 users with a PlayStation VR headset.
Eagle Flight is the first Ubisoft title to support cross-platform play and the feature will be available tomorrow, Nov. 29, for Oculus Rift and PSVR users. Those with a HTC Vive headset will have to wait until Dec. 20 when that version of the game launches.
“Our games feature a strong multiplayer experiences, so letting friends play together regardless of which headset they own will enhance the social nature of our games and let them be played the way we envisioned,” said David Votypka, Red Storm senior creative director.
Cross-platform multiplayer will also be supported for Werewolves Within and Star Trek: Bridge Crew. Werewolves Within launches on Dec. 6, while Star Trek: Bridge Crew is expected to release March 14, 2017. Both titles will be available on all three VR platforms at launch.
