How to join the dark brotherhood – skyrim
The Dark Brotherhood is one of the finest questlines in all of Skyrim, and though this group isn’t exactly friendly or good or even law-abiding, you should definitely join them. Here’s how to do just that.
First, you’re going to need to make it to Windhelm. You can either run there (not recommended) or take a carriage ride from a stable outside a nearby city. Once there, either overhear conversations from the locals or talk to the barkeep about rumors until you hear about a strange boy. Apparently, he’s trying to summon The Dark Brotherhood, and nobody feels too good about it.
Follow your quest marker to the young Aventus Aretino’s house, and he’ll think you’re The Brotherhood, there to answer his call. He wants you to kill Grelod, a nasty orphanage instructor in Riften. Head over there and do the deed, then return to the boy. He’s overjoyed, and gives you a plate as a reward. He also offers you a warm bed, convenient, as your next step in joining The Dark Brotherhood is to sleep. Might as well do so here.
Once you’re rested, you’ll be kidnapped. Sorry, had to be done.
You’ll wake up in a cabin alongside three bound NPCs. A Dark Brotherhood member will ask you to kill one of them, and once you do, you’re pretty much in. Follow the questline from here, and you’ll be right at their doorstep.
