Before you get started picking out the mods you want, you’ll need to make sure that your Xbox One has downloaded the latest title update for Fallout 4. You’ll be able to tell if you’ve got this if ‘Mods’ has appeared on your title screen.

Once you’ve confirmed this you’ll want to head over to Bethesda.net and set up an account which you can do here. If you’ve already got one, log in and head over to the ‘Mods’ tab which you should find at the top of the page. Here’s the link to the Fallout 4 page so you can get browsing that a little bit quicker.

Now that you’re all logged in and have reached the mods page for Fallout 4, you can start filtering the results down for those which work on the Xbox One. When you’ve refined your search simply look through and pick out the ones you want to try. There are a ton already for you to choose from that add in new weapons, improve textures, and more. Be warned, though, you can only have 2GB of active mods at a time, so make sure your selections are within this limit.

When you’ve found a mod you want, click on it and use the “Add To Library” button. Now it’s time to head over to your Xbox One and load up that ‘Mods’ option that was on the title screen. Here, you’ll find the ones that you’ve selected online. Simply select the mods you want to activate and enable them. Once you’re all done, head back to the main menu and load your game. You should now find that the mods are active and Fallout 4’s Wasteland is a little bit different.

Something to take note of in regards to mods is the load order. When you’re in the option from the title screen, you should find that you have the ability to alter the load order. As the name suggests, this will change the order in which the game loads these tweaks to your game. For most of them you won’t have an issue, but for some, you may need to load another one before it. Reorder your mods to make sure the most important ones are always the first to be loaded.

Finally, loading these will create a new Save File to prevent you from screwing up your primary one that you’ve put all those hours into. Using mods will also prevent you from unlocking any achievements too, so make sure not to use them on your main game.

And that’s all there is to it. For more tips, tricks, and guides, be sure to check out our Fallout 4 Wiki.
