UNSC Variant Vehicles Pack a Punch in Halo 5: Guardians’ Warzone

Halo 5: Guardians takes a cue from comic books.

What’s old is new again here is what rings true with Halo 5: Guardians’ UNSC vehicles. Central hub for all things Halo, Halo Waypoint, recently published a complementary post to the Covenant’s newly designed vehicles that takes a look at the various vehicles humanity has to offer. Fresh fans of Halo can identify these veteran vehicles; furthermore, through the requisition system, we see a few variants in the 12-vs-12-vs-AI chaos that is the multiplayer mode of Warzone.

“The REQ system not only allows for players to call in awesome ordnance to change the tide of battle in the all-new Warzone multiplayer mode, it also allows fiction-focused fans a glimpse into potential mission-specific variants or skunkworks prototypes being tested out in the Warzone scenarios.”

Seen below, the cosmetic changes are not the only modification made in Halo 5: Guardians’ new mode. Each vehicle is tweaked or strengthened to a minor or serious degree.

  • ONI Scorpion: new model of the “M820” reduces the size of the original M808 by half, yet experimental energetic propellants affix to the Oni Scorpion.
  • Corp Mongoose: alternatively, this ATV (or colloquially called “Mothergoose”) is larger than previous Mongooses with a rear-facing seat for the passenger.

  • Banshee Ultra: NOT UNSC, but still is usable by humans; this beefed-up Banshee bulks up on armor and a “significantly upgraded armament.”
  • Urban Rocket Warthog: a rocket warthog with improved armor.
  • ONI Gauss Warthog: the M12B Warthog packs a much bigger punch as it produces a lingering area-of-effect damage.
  • Gungoose: a Mongoose with grenade launchers.

Freaking come on, that’s one overcompensating Mongoose. Halo 5: Guardians launches October 27th on the Xbox One.
