The port will have one major change from the original release, however. According to Team Meat’s Tommy Refenes and Edmund McMillen, these versions of the game will ship with a completely new soundtrack. Composer  Danny Baranowsky has officially cleared up why his soundtrack isn’t included on his blog.

According to Baranowsky, his working relationship with Team Meat ended years ago, which is why they didn’t collaborate on The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth or the PlayStation versions of Super Meat Boy. He also notes that the decision was based on licensing and not creative differences.

I own all the rights to my music, and Team Meat approached me to license the music for the PS4 and Vita versions. I didn’t feel like the license fee and exposure through PSN they offered was enough to make me seriously consider accepting the deal.

The new soundtrack for Super Meat Boy will be handled by Ridiculon, David “Scattle” Scatliffe and Laura Shigihara. These composers worked on The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Hotline Miami, and Plants vs. Zombies, respectively. Ridiculon have released a preview of the soundtrack on Soundcloud.

The new soundtrack for Super Meat Boy has some well-known talent behind it. Are you looking forward to the new songs, or would you prefer the original ones? Let us know in the comments.
