This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Twitter can be a remarkable place for fans to interact with their best friends, top celebrities, and favorite game developers. More than that, it can provide the perfect common ground for unexpected pair-ups and collaborations for all sorts of mediums. We could very well be seeing such a collaboration in the works at this very moment.

The Deus Ex Twitter account hit up Sonic the Hedgehog today with a winky-emoticon Obama pic, asking for a follow so they could partake in super-secret private messaging. Sonic, on-point as ever, replied in kind with typical meme brilliance the SEGA mascot’s account has recently become well known for in the gaming community.

What could it all mean? With Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided both just around the corner, could we be looking at some last-minute crossover inclusions? Maybe we’ll get to see Adam Jensen moving faster than ever with a blue sneaker augmentation power-up, or see Sonic and crew blast through a Deus Ex level. Or perhaps these two companies are just having a bit of a laugh. Who’s to say? Let us know what you think they’re up to in the comments below.

Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice is slated for a Q4 release exclusively on the 3DS, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided should be hitting PS4, Xbox One and PC in the first half of 2016. Check out our thoughts on the E3 demo here.
