So it would appear that Capcom might be considering doing a full remake of Resident Evil 2, something which has been widely requested by fans of the series. Over on the official Resident Evil Facebook page, Capcom posted a little message that reads as follows:

Hello Resident Evil fans!
This is Capcom R&D Division 1!

First off, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to all Resident Evil fans, for your passion, enthusiasm and continued support for the Resident Evil brand.

Enthusiasm for a Resident Evil 2 Remake is something we’ve been hearing from you over the years, and has drawn some recent attention in the media.

However, as the team owns the RE brand, we’re not certain how we feel about this approach, and would like to ask your honest and frank opinion about the “Resident Evil 2 Remake” and what the brand identity is supposed to be about?

As someone who absolutely adores Resident Evil 2, this seems like good news. Considering that Resident Evil HD Remake on the PS4 and Xbox One received over a million digital downloads, and with Resident Evil 0 HD making its way to consoles in 2016, it does look like Capcom might be capitalizing on the Resident Evil nostalgia hype and seriously considering giving RE2 the same treatment.

And hey, if that goes well, maybe even Resident Evil: Code Veronica X might get the remake treatment. But one step at a time. If you wish to express your opinion on the matter of a Resident Evil 2 Remake, you can do so over here.
