FFXIV’s most recent content update, Before the Fall Part 1 (otherwise known as patch 2.5), has gone live today, adding a bevy of new quests, side quests and battle content. The hotly anticipated Golden Saucer, which includes mini games such as Chocobo Racing and Triple Triad, will be released in a few weeks in the complimentary patch, 2.51. Headlining today’s update is the continuation of the 2.0 story line and the addition of the final part of the Crystal Tower battle series, World of Darkness.
As its name implies, this patch is the first part of the finale of the 2.0 series of story line quests culminating into a final event bridging 2.0 into the new expansion, Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward (3.0). Also, the popular comedy side quest, the Hildibrand series, also received new missions to take on. Players must be caught up on all the main story line and 2.0 series of quests before undertaking the new ones added today.
Final Fantasy III fans also have a reason to be excited today as the final part of the Crystal Tower raid series, World of Darkness, has been added. Adventurers will take on the famous final antagonist from FFIII, Cloud of Darkness and take home some fancy new gear for their efforts.
It’s not just story line content either, PvP fans have an entire new mode of Frontline to partake in called Slaughter, which sounds awfully like a Team Deathmatch type mode. There are three new dungeons including two hard mode remakes of The Wanderer’s Palace and Amdapor Keep, along with a brand new dungeon, The Keeper of the Lake. Also, you’ll be able to take on series staple, Odin in a all new battlefield. All of this joins smaller changes including new hairstyles and crafting recipes.
You can read the entire patch notes right here on the FFXIV lodestone. Everything listed there is live now, Golden Saucer fans will have to hold out just a little bit longer.
