Persona 5 Release Date: When Did it Come Out

When Did Persona 5 Come Out?

Recommended Videos

Persona 5 has been all the rage for some time now. It offers up a tight JRPG experience that is full of tons of style and substance as players take on the role of a high school student by day, but don the mantle of a Phantom Thief by night. With all of the praise that’s been rained upon Atlus’ latest, you would think that it’s been out for years and years, making believers out of players. But that’s actually not the case. So when did it come out?

Persona 5 released first in Japan on the PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation 3 (PS3) on Sept. 15 of 2016. It wouldn’t see a release everywhere else in the world, including North America, until almost seven months later. The game saw a worldwide release on April 4, 2017 on PS4 and PS3. Since then it has racked up a ton of high praise, earning the title an aggregated score of 93 on Metacritic making it one of the highest rated games on the PS4, just under The Last of Us Remastered. Not too shabby for a bunch of school kids who break into peoples’ minds in order to change their hearts and save their victims, huh?

With how good Persona 5 is doing now, it will be interesting what type of legacy it builds for itself and the franchise as a whole.
