Ubisoft’s newest title is an all out war–For Honor takes Vikings, Samurai, and Knights and pits them against each other across a series of battlefields.

For Honor truly shines in its gameplay, primarily focused on one-on-one melee duels. You’ll enter a stance against an opposing faction, and spend every ounce of your attention trying to discern their next move. If you’re keen, you’ll pull off a counter and perhaps an execution. Or maybe they outmaneuver you, varying their approaches just enough to throw off your predictions, and send a sword hilt right into your skull.

It’s these moments of intensity that build For Honor’s multiplayer intrigue, but there’s more to enjoy than the PvP action. Players can accrue rarer gear across their playtime, and participate in the game’s surprisingly enjoyable single-player campaign. Whichever way you warrior, For Honor proves to be one of the best games to play on the Xbox One this year.
