Dishonored 2: How to Avoid Bloodflies

Nimble like a mantis.

One of the most annoying enemies in Dishonored 2 are the Bloodflies thanks to their limitless spawning and ability to chase players for quite a while. This can make them very difficult to deal with if you are going for a no kill or Low Chaos playthrough, as fighting them will easily alert guards around you. Being able to sneak around them effectively is key to a solid Low Chaos run, so making sure you have the right tools for the job is always essential.

One of the best ways to avoid Bloodflies is to keep them and their nests at a safe distance (roughly 2 to 3 meters), otherwise they will glow red and get angry. If you see them start to buzz around faster, that means they are on edge and you either need to back off or break line of sight with them. Try to also move slowly when skulking through bug-infested buildings, only engaging when it’s absolutely needed.

Your powers are great for getting around them without any trouble, as both of Corvo’s Blink and Bend Time abilities are perfect for navigating dangerous areas. Make sure to combo them so you don’t end up having the effects wear off right next to a nest. You can also use Possession and actually take over a Bloodfly so you will be left alone with no risk at all.

For Emily, you will want to use her Far Reach and Shadow Walk abilities, as these can help minimize contact with them. Shadow Walk is ideal because unless you are right on top of a nest, the Bloodflies will literally ignore you. However, Far Reach is not as dependable as Blink since you can accidentally clip some furniture and end up beside an angry swarm of insects.

Always use Dark Vision to spot swarms in buildings as they are almost never alone. If you see one nest, it’s almost guaranteed there will be more, so make sure to quick save after you pass each one. If you keep your distance and manage your mana you should be able to slip by them without any issues. Just try not to make them angry, you wouldn’t like them when they’re angry.
