First things first, you’ll need to know exactly whereabouts it is that you’re headed. The image below gives you a good idea as to where Spectacle island is in relation to the mainland in Fallout 4. Simply head to one of the closest fast travel points, and then choose one the three following ways to make your way across.

In order to reach Spectacle island, you’re gonna need some way of surviving swimming through radiated water for quite some time. Now, there are a couple of different ways you can do this. The first way is to unlock the Aqua Boy perk. This prevents you from taking any damage and allows you to breathe underwater for an unlimited amount of time. This makes getting to the island far off the East coast of the mainland much easier.

Alternatively, if you’re not interested in gaining yourself a permanent means of protecting yourself from the radiation in the water, you can make yourself a Mirelurk Cake. You’ll need a Mirelurk egg, Mirelurk meat, Oil, and Razorgrain to make one. When you’ve got these ingredients, find a cooking station and craft that cake! This handy snack will not only restore 140 hit points but will also grant you the ability to breathe underwater for 30 minutes. You will still need Rad-Away, however, to deal with any rad damage dealt by the water.

Finally, you can brave it with your power armor. It’s not the most ideal of ways, but if you’re struggling to find the ingredients for the Mirelurk cake and don’t have the point spare to unlock the Aqua Boy perk, this is your other option. Hop into your suit and prepare for a pretty lengthy walk.
